To be reborn is a miracle. To be reborn on a dying space station with the ancient biology of a Dark Fey and the immortal, burning soul of a Phoenix is a ticking time bomb.
Aleksander has spent his entire second life hiding in plain sight. To the rest of the Ark—and to his closest friends, Clarke Griffin and Wells Jaha—he is simply a privileged prodigy with a supernatural intellect. But beneath the sterile gray bulkheads of Alpha Station, Aleksander is quietly blending the brutal, failing science of the Ark with the volatile magic running through his veins. Beneath a heavy, instinctual glamour, he hides pitch-black wings and horns of Dark Fey.
He knows the Ark is dying. Fragments of a past life tell him that they will soon be sent down to a supposedly irradiated Earth. But his memories are fractured and incomplete; he doesn't know the exact dangers waiting for them in the overgrown forests below, nor who fired the bombs that destroyed the world a century ago.
He only knows one thing for certain: when the Council finally drops the delinquents to the ground, the quiet genius act is over. Plunging into an unknown, savage world alongside Clarke and Wells, Aleksander is ready to unleash a hybrid of magic and science that neither the Ark nor the Earth is prepared for.
