The brilliant, piercing light of the green chemical signal flares cut through the suffocating, freezing blizzard blanketing the Crimson Peaks. The violent winds howled across the desolate mountain valley, completely masking the heavy, rhythmic thrum of the secondary Rosea transport helicopter as it descended flawlessly onto the snow. The aircraft touched down just outside the massive, gaping entrance to the subterranean labyrinth. The dead zone instantly neutralised the helicopter's advanced avionics, but the highly trained pilots had already switched to full manual control.
