Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

'Wow, is that gold on the ceiling?' was Haru's first thought when he opened his eyes and saw gold chandelier, with several precious stones embedded on it.

'Where am I?' he thought, looking at the unfamiliar surroundings. It has only been a month since since haru has transmigrated in this fantasy world, however the only scenery he has seen in this world were tall trees, some strange flowers and a few animals. While Haru had known that he was in the different world, however he had not yet experienced the medieval european setting.

However, the room that haru was in, seems to come out straight out of a historical Western T.V, with golden chandelier, exquisite designs, marbles and tiles, a fluffy and comfy king size bed, fluttery light colored curtain on windows and around the bed, and precious stones embedded on lamp. There was even a balcony with an enormous glass door. He could see some flowers and a beautiful scenery.

Haru had only seen this in T.V and to see it in real life had him taken aback. He suddenly heard some sound from his side and turned to find Mister Ambroise sitting on a chair. Haru was quite happy but also nervous to see him, though he seems to have fallen asleep while sitting.

Now that he was out of that dangerous situation,he could think more clearly and logically. If he remembered correctly, that Green bastard said that he was the son of Mister Ambroise due to their striking resemblance, however, Mister Ambroise didn't say anything and he's not sure if it's true or not but if it's true...then was he really the son of Mister Ambroise? Did Mister Ambroise already known about this?

Haru thought so hard, it made his head dizzy when he heard a small voice from his side. He turned to find Mister Ambroise staring at him with hsi eyes wide open, before leaping up from his chair and calling 'Barlowe'.

Barlowe entered, his robes fluttering with his fast pace and stood on the other side of the bed.

"Haru, are you alright now? Do you feel any pain? Does any part of your body hurt?" Ambroise asked, his eyes scanning up and down, just waiting to catch even a glimpse of pain on his face so that he could call all the besl healers and doctors in the world, even though Barlowe was also among that list.

"I don't feel any pain," haru said, though to his surprise, his voice was so low, it would have been better to call it a whisper.

He reached out his hand to touch his neck but was stopped by Ambroise who gently pressed his hand to the bed again.

"Don't touch it haru, your neck was hurt," he explained. "Let Barlowe examine you, okay?"

Ambroise indicated Barlowe to start. Haru observed Barlowe, he was a very handsome, with Kelly green hair and aqua blue eyes, he made quite an elegant and unique man.

"Hello, Mister Barlowe," Haru whispered.

Barlowe smiled, "It's an honor to meet you, Your Highness. Please allow me to examine you," and without waiting for any response, Barlowe touched his hand and pressed his fingers against his wrist, measuring his heart beat. He then took out several medical tools, some looking modern while some, he has no knowledge of, however all of these needed magic to work.

He watched with fascination as Barlowe put a strange wrist band around his wrist and then chanted. The wristband glowed and Barlowe nodded with satisfaction. He took off the wristband and then chanted, and this time, his body was glowing!

After some moments, Barlowe stopped and with a click of his thumb, a notepad and a quill floated and started writing down without any human involvement.

This was the first time for Haru to see someone doing magic. Ambroise and Barlowe chuckled seeing his expression.

"How is he, Barlowe?"

"He is doing alright, Your Grace. After two days, bandage can be taken off. I will leave some bandage and a balm, you can put it on his neck at night. Do it two times at day and night, for the next two days which will make sure that no scar is left."

Ambroise was satisfied with the explanation. "Thank you, Barlowe, for staying for the past few days without going home. I will look after haru, you can leave now."

Barlowe smiled gently, "Don't embarass me, Your Grace. It was an honor to serve His Highness. I will take my leave now," Barlowe bowed and left the room.

Now, there were only two occupants in the room and the atmosphere became quite awkward as they both didn't know how to breach the subject.

Ambroise could see the visible anguish on Haru's face and knew that he could not longer prolong this discussion. He gently took Haru's hand in his own, a bit bewildered by just how small his son hand was while also feeling the callouses that have been formed, not by pen or sword but because of picking up buckets of water and fishes, making nets and cleaning floors, cooking and fidgeting in worry about tomorrow's food, this made Ambroise feel like a failure. How could he be so incompetent in taking care of his own child.

"Haru," he said, his firm but gentle voice instantly capturing Haru's attention, "You are my son. I apologise that I couldn't tell you this before but I wanted to first bring you out of that forest and tell you only when you are safe and sound. While this may sound as a excuse, but, " he looked deeply at his son's wide sparkling violet eyes, "I also wanted you to see me as a competent father and not as someone who has abandoned you. I didn't know how to tell you my identity."

Haru teared up, his hand gripping his father hands tightly and finally the question that had been in his mind since he found out that Mister Ambroise was his father, "Then you didn't abandone me? I am not a bad boy?"

Haru, in the original self memories had seen that his mother had often said he was abandoned by his father and was worthless to the world and just why can't be die already?!

Haru didn't want to be abandoned anymore. He didn't know if he could take it anymore.

Ambroise was astounded by his question before suddenly bringing his son in his embrace. "No, my child. You were not abandoned. You are a good child. You are perfect. It's my fault that I couldn't be there when you needed me the most. I am sorry, Haru."

Haru could see Mister Ambroise holding back his tears and could feel himself tearing up. He tightened the hug. "Then you are not going leave me again, are you, dad?"

Ambroise froze when he heard Haru calling him dad and he beamed, a tear escaping his eye and said, "I promise you, my son. I will never leave you again."

Haru smiled happily and let himself immerse in this moment.
