"Ha ha ha!" Owen Bertram burst into laughter suddenly: "Incurable fool! Show some respect, give a bow, and I'll spare your life."
Sullivan was furious: "Arrogant!" Owen Bertram just smiled and shook his head, saying no more. He meandered forward, hands clasped behind his back, not uttering another word to him.
Sullivan huffed and followed after him: "Self-righteous." But he couldn't help feeling uneasy: Could he have misinterpreted the intentions of Master Burgess? Surely that couldn't be, what he interpreted must be Master Burgess's intentions...
He kept reassuring himself, but his anxiety grew. After travelling a hundred miles or so, he hesitantly asked, "Do you think that Master Burgess didn't mean what I thought?" Owen Bertram simply ignored him, continuing to stride ahead quickly. It seemed they would soon be out of the Extinction Domain. Sullivan felt too embarrassed to inquire further in the presence of others, but his unease grew.
