Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Secrets of the World

At this time, inside the Big Gold Teeth

Three different races were still chatting at the bar.

Burton was a bit curious now, about what kind of place could raise a young man like Kane, yet remain relatively closed off.

"So, Kane, where is your hometown?"

Hearing Burton's question, Kane replied, "At the World Border."

"Snap!"

Upon hearing that Kane was from the World Border, Burton excitedly crushed the glass in his hand.

Seeing Kane and Kreya looking at him with puzzled eyes, Burton didn't explain but instead continued asking, "So, you said last time your first dungeon was your hometown, does that mean a dungeon appeared at the border?"

Though puzzled by Burton's shock, he still said, "Yes, there's a dungeon at the border, didn't it even make the papers?"

"Is that so?" Burton lowered his head in thought.

Seeing Burton like this, Kane also fell into contemplation.

The appearance of a dungeon at the border might be a significant event. The first thing Kane saw when he emerged from the dungeon was the president of the Mist Branch in the Border City State, along with two gold-ranked exploration team leaders.

He didn't find it strange at the time, but when he came to the Explorer's House and learned about the explorer circle.

It's just a copper dungeon, why would it gather a colorful council branch president and two gold-ranked leaders?

The manager of the Sokkayamas Explorers' House is still over at that dungeon.

Though he didn't know Burton's rank, because Kane knew that casually checking others was a provocative act, and Eagle Eye was very conspicuous.

So now Kane basically didn't use Eagle Eye much after leaving the dungeon.

But when they first met, Burton immediately detected that Kane was a Mist Warrior, and combined with the fact that he used to be an explorer and is now 655 years old.

These events linked together undoubtedly told Kane that the appearance of a dungeon at the border was a big deal.

Kreya just looked at the two suddenly fall into thought, unsure of how to interrupt them, so she could only hold onto Yoyo and think, was there any big news in the conversation just now?

"So, you were the first person lured into that dungeon, right? That's how you became a Mist Warrior?"

Burton suddenly looked at Kane and asked.

As expected, he noticed it right away.

"Yes."

There's no point in hiding it now.

Hearing Kane's answer, Burton immediately told the silent and burly waiter beside him, "Mala, go watch the tavern door, don't let anyone in."

The Centaur next to him already widened her eyes, staring up and down at Kane.

If the atmosphere weren't so off, she would have already asked questions.

Kane is actually a Mist Warrior, my teammate is a Mist Warrior.

The excitement squeezed Yoyo in her arms (ᗒᗩᗕ)

"I didn't want to tell you originally, but you're already involved. There are things you must know, Kreya, you must know too."

Hearing Burton's serious voice, Kane and Kreya unconsciously straightened up.

"Have you ever wondered why there are so many races in this world, like stars in the sky, innumerable?"

Kane had thought about it, but the idea of this world being a Frankenstein had blocked it.

Before they could respond, Burton continued, "Originally, there weren't so many races in this world; which were the initial races can no longer be researched.

It's only known that most races are originally dungeon races, once monsters in the dungeon."

This news was easy for Kane to accept, but the Centaur couldn't accept it.

"What? Is what you said true?" This information was somewhat worldview-shattering for Kreya.

She had always treated dungeon monsters as beasts to be slaughtered.

"Don't rush," Burton shook his head, took out a pipe, and started smoking.

"This isn't classified information, really. Most silver and gold-ranked explorers know, so there's nothing to be shocked about.

The world absorbs fragments from other worlds, then turns them into dungeons, and we explorers help the world digest these dungeons.

When a dungeon is digested, does it just disappear?

No, the dungeon doesn't disappear; it becomes part of us.

The monsters in the dungeon are copies formed from the dungeon's core energy. If there are copies, there must be originals, and these originals are stored away.

When the dungeon dissipates, it actually appears in the Mist, and these originals are released."

Releasing a puff of smoke, he continued.

"When the dissipating Mist reaches a certain level, the world expands, and the border will no longer be the border.

A dungeon appearing at the border indicates the world is about to expand.

New races, new technologies, new civilizations, new continents, new knowledge. These will become a giant dungeon, no longer hanging in the sky.

But encircling the whole world, it will be a worldwide celebration then."

Saying this, Burton stood on the bar and passionately shouted.

"The world will reshuffle, countless heroes will emerge like bamboo shoots after a spring rain.

Kane, quickly rise to gold rank. Only then can you be considered a true hero, find your partners, form your own exploration team, maybe even your own guild."

Kane was getting a bit pumped; wasn't this exploring new continents?

Kreya had already set aside her previous shock.

"If you have any questions, ask now. I know you have many." Burton jumped down from the bar and said.

Kane had long wanted to ask.

"So, why say I'm already involved?"

"You're the first to receive the information after the world sent out the pre-warning. And you succeeded in becoming a Mist Warrior as an ordinary person.

When the door of the Mist opens, no matter what level you are, the council will let you be the first to open the door.

If you're not gold level by then, you'll just be a charming mascot.

If you become gold, you'll gain privileges, so grow quickly."

"What privileges?"

Hearing Kane's question, Burton awkwardly scratched his head.

"Haha, well, this, this is a secret, would result in a fine."

Hearing this answer, Kane was speechless, what's this, even with non-disclosure agreements.

"So, when will this Great Dungeon appear?" This was the real focus.

"It's not a Great Dungeon, it's called the [World Ring]. As for when it appears, based on what I knew back then, the soonest is 3 years, or at latest 6 years."

"So I must at least become gold level in 3 years?"

"Theoretically, yes."

Kane fell into contemplation; this was a bit challenging.

Even with advantages, Kane couldn't guarantee he'd reach gold level in 3 years.

If it were 5 years, maybe it could be possible.
