Chapter 18 - Mendacity and Dynamism

Reinhard sat in a bar. Demi-humans and commoners sat at the crooked tables of the establishment. The smell of ale swirled through the musty space. Warriors with sacks of gold laughed while retelling their hearty adventures. Knights drank in silence as they tried to forget their worries. Maidens flirted with wealthy businessmen in hopes of a better life. Sitting beside the red-haired knight was a witch. A half-elf with silver hair. No one could notice her but Reinhard. He sighed as he downed a glass topped off with froth and malt.

"You are aware that they fear you, correct?" He asked under his breath.

Satella stared off into the distance.

"Every sane person in these great four nations trembles at the mention of your name." He continued.

"They fear The Witch of Envy. Not Satella."

Reinhard shook his head from side to side.

"I don't understand you..."

He downed another sip from his brew.

"Everything is for Subaru."

The knight's hands then tightened. The mention of that boy's name brought hatred and dishonor to his heart.

"Why do you like him so much...? I don't understand any of your motivations."

The witch stared below at the counter before them. Her reflection looked back at her, eyes of pure shadow staring forth. She shifted in her cloak of shade and darkness, trying to ponder the answer to the knight's question.

"He gave me all the light I needed. I prefer to hide and run away from my fears. But he cast away my barrier of shadow and showered me with sunshine."

Reinhard's eyes looked to his shoes below. He wouldn't dare look her in the eyes.

"He showed me the world outside of The Shadow Garden. Because of him, I was able to approach life with wonder and love."

"But-"

"He held my hand when I was lonely. There were many times I was hated for being a witch. He ignored all that and still held my hand."

"Anyone to do such a thing would be nothing short of insane. You are the one who caused the great calamity four hundred years ago."

"He kissed and cherished me when I felt I was undeserving. It is because of all these reasons that... That I love him."

Reinhard fell silent. Everything was wrong. Nothing made sense anymore. The fact that he could relate to or even sympathize with a being as evil as The Witch of Envy was beyond distressing. He was a hero through and through. Yet as his eyes glanced up from his shoes and into the smokey liquid of his ale, he began to think otherwise.

"The Subaru Natsuki I know would never do such a thing. He is nothing but malignant."

The witch began to cry. Her tears dripped down to the counter, one by one. Reinhard knew of the tales describing the envious witch. She had slaughtered half the world's population four centuries ago. Yet as she continued to weep, he couldn't help but feel remorse. Her reasoning for doing such a terrible act couldn't have been orthodox. She must have been forced to do it. It must have been an accident. A terrible tragedy that occurred from many mistakes. He wondered if she was controlling his mind at that moment. Maybe that's why he felt compelled to console her. But no matter the logic, there was no denying that his arm wrapped around her. He comforted and held her. He did not phase through her like before. Instead, he could feel the warmth of her pale skin. He could feel the despair of the shadows that encapsulated her clothes. He could feel all of her pain. Nothing made sense anymore.

...

I sat on my throne, a crown fit for a king atop my head. I buried my face into a pair of enormous boobs. Syrup and batter rolled down the mounds of doughy cleavage, my tongue swiveling about as I shoved the treat into my mouth. Emilia was sitting on my lap. She faced me, her delicate hands burying me in her chest. Sitting atop Emilia's abundant cleavage were several pancakes. Syrup dribbled across her boobs. I licked and slobbered away at her chest while the sweet liquid dripped down to her sides.

"Eat up Subaru! I cooked the pancakes myself!"

She pushed my face further in. When I had finally finished the meal, I leaned back and gasped for air.

"Thanks, Mili." I panted.

"You're welcome Master... Did you like them?"

"Of course."

"I made them with my very own breast milk!"

In the next moment, Echidna came walking through the royal archways. Gleaming silver hair was flowing down her back. She wore a jet-black dress that draped across the castle floor.

"Where have you been?" I questioned.

The witch came to a halt. She turned to me and grinned.

"I was helping the other girls train. Crusch is leading them in a combat session as we speak."

"So why aren't you with them?

"Master Subaru, I do not need to fight. My expertise is more suited for... Observation." She finished.

"You were able to teleport my biggest threat away without hesitation. Your abilities will be required to end whatever fight arises." I bellowed.

Emilia shifted from atop my lap.

"You should listen to Master Subaru." She denoted.

I pat Emilia on the head, an expression of contentment filling her face.

"Thank you for the advice... Sometimes it is best to follow your own interests though."

I pushed Emilia off of my lap. I stood up, the chandelier above glistening and reflecting off of my crown.

"Excuse me?" I objected.

Echidna crossed her arms. The same grin was still plastered across her face.

"I am here for knowledge, Master Subaru. That is what comes first and foremost."

My hands formed into fists. Emilia sat behind me with a blank expression. Her shirt was still off. She kicked her legs back and forth in a cutesy manner. I remembered what Echidna made me do to her. What were her motivations for being in my harem?

"You could sit in your little tea garden, reading through your book of wisdom, gaining all the knowledge you need. Why are you here?"

A moment of silence passed. The same grin was stuck to her face.

"The book of wisdom is rather boring. I prefer it this way. Getting to be a part of the experience. Getting to process the knowledge in real time. It's much better than instant gratification."

My eyes flickered a black hue.

"My orders should be your priority," I commanded.

Echidna faltered for a moment.

"Subaru, you wouldn't actually think to-"

"That's Master Subaru to you."

She glared at me, the teasing nature of her personality now gone. She sucked in a breath and smiled again. She stepped toward me. She lifted her dress and then dropped to the ground, tight lingerie being revealed. She placed her hands on my chest and pushed me to the castle floor.

"You aren't going to distract me Echidna."

I began pulling her off but she kept me pinned down.

"You could use your power on me- But what good would that do? I'm the only one who even knows of such capabilities. I have knowledge that you need. That is if you wish to stay in control of Lugunica."

I said nothing, continuing to stare in her eyes. My charcoal pupils elongated. I opened my mouth but she cut me off again.

"Do you really want me to be like Emilia? A woman who has no morsel of intelligence left? The girl can hardly think for herself! All she goes on about is how perfect you are!"

Emilia sat on the throne behind us, massaging and poking her breasts. She swung her feet back and forth while humming.

"Anytime I wanted I could grant her intellect again. Just like I could do to you."

Echidna bit her lip. Her eyebrows furrowed in distaste.

"You're making a mistake. Listen to me. You don't even know who that beast is that gave you your power."

I froze. I could feel the fob watch in my pocket. I knew frighteningly little about its origin or even goals.

"What do you know of it?" I inquired.

"It's beyond any force in this world. Do you really want to be alone with that kind of authority?"

My hands gripped her sides. Her soft skin rubbed against mine, the air now stagnant and without purpose.

"One authority is enough. I don't need two bossing me around." I professed.

Her eyes locked with mine, unable to look away.

"Subaru no-"

"From now on you will no longer seek out knowledge or power. You no longer care for greed. All you care for is me." I ordered.

...

The red-haired knight laughed and patted the back of an invisible force next to him. It had been quite a long time since he'd partaken of alcohol. But his lawful will had been shattered many months ago. He shut off several of his divine blessings and simply unwinded. At least a dozen or so containers of ale filled the counter. He talked to the thin air beside him, in a bar brimming with demi-humans and commoners. A knight sitting at a nearby table stared in confusion at the sight. The man was clad in fanciful Kararagi clothing, his eyes narrowed at the sad state of the red-haired warrior. Then he heard something from the drunken man. A name. The red-haired deadbeat muttered under his breath: "Satella". The knight in Kararagi clothing stood up, two katanas sheathed at his side.

"Maannnn, what are you going on about... Muttering to yourself all alone and speaking of the witch. You're gonna start scaring people." He laughed.

The red-haired knight turned over. The man stepped back.

"No... No, it can't be..."

"You... What are you doing here?!" Shouted Reinhard.

"What are you doing here?! You should be in Lugunica!"

"I've had some tough altercations recently. You wouldn't understand, Cecilus."

Cecilus' blue eyes peered into the now purple pupils of Reinhard. Something was wrong. Cecilus sighed, his blue hair all ruffled and uneven. His kimono wrapped up his slender figure in a dignified manner. His hands reached for his two katanas.

"Don't think I'm done with you Reinhard. You owe me another battle. Do you remember the last time we fought?"

The red-haired knight slammed down his drink.

"I remember it clear as a day. I'm done battling pointless endeavors though. Go on with your day and forget I was ever here."

"Geeze Reinhard, I wouldn't have expected you to become so much of a loser."

It was at that moment, the witch sitting beside him stood up. She faced the blue-haired warrior with a look of disgust. Her shadowy stance consumed the light around her.

"Apologize to Reinhard."

Cecilus stared through the invisible figure of the girl and into Reinhard's eyes. He slowly unsheathed his katanas. The bartender slammed a fist down in an unsavory manner.

"No fighting in the bar. Take it outside."

"Relax old man, it'll only take a moment."

...

Echidna shut her eyes before I could influence her. She leaped backward, stepping away from me.

"You're trying to resist my will?" I grit.

Echidna didn't say a word, instead, she continued to grin.

"I must having a mortal form makes everything so much more interesting..."

She held up her hands as I stood up. Emilia watched us from the throne in confusion. The chandelier continued to dangle above. We all stared at each other in anticipation and suspense. The air was thin. What was Echidna playing at?

"Jiwald." She uttered.

I stood in awe as several rays of fire roared forth from each of Echidna's fingers. They sprayed the air in a claw-like fashion, their edges extending out in a fury of orange and red. I leaped to the side and hit the ground. Emilia jumped up from the throne as flames blasted into where she once stood. Rubble exploded outward, the chandelier above swinging back and forth.

"You just made a big mistake." I spat.

Emilia raised her hands upward. The castle floor shimmered and gleamed as a wall of thick ice extended to the ceiling. Echidna stood on the other side of the barrier, contemplating her next move.

"Master! Are you alright!" Wept Emilia.

She tackled me in an embrace.

"Yes... Yes, I'm alright..."

"...Goa." Croaked Echidna.

Another blast of fire erupted into the wall of ice. Shards and chunks of frost flew into a million pieces.

"Back down Echidna." I grit.

She raised a hand to the air again. Before she could attack I shouted.

"Minya!"

An electrifying feeling then coursed through my chest. I felt drained of energy, my legs growing weak. Spires of shadow extended out into the air and shot into the ground around Echidna. Emilia ran forward, muttering the word: "Cocytus..." under her breath. Streams of ice and frost flew out and covered the shadowy cage I had created. Echidna's smile had finally broken as she stared at us from beyond her prison of ice and shadow.

...

Reinhard's blade slashed against Cecilus' katanas. The two knights danced and capered along the tables of the bar. The customers and drunken fools had all fled. A dazzling white light consumed the edges of Reinhard's sword, blinding Cecilus' eyes. The sound of a whale croaking about could be heard. The air turned a garish tone around the red-haired knight. Thousands of spheres flew into his stature. Reinhard turned away from Cecilus, a single hand weaving around his sword to combat each and every one of the opposing attacks. The three blades connected, a whirlwind of energy blasting outward from the impact. The two knights were flung to opposite sides of the room. The walls of the establishment had cracked and splintered into piles of ash.

"Despite how depressed you look, you seem to still carry your sword just finneee!" Retorted Cecilus.

"You've reminded me that I need to stay on top of things." Mumbled Reinhard.

They leaped into the air after each other, their feet ran along the very air of the room as if it were a tangible object. The blades slashed and clawed against one another in every direction imaginable. An azure light began to envelop Cecilus. He grinned as he appeared at the other side of the room within an instant. Reinhard stood amused as his foe whirred about the remnants of the bar in the blink of an eye. All the red-haired knight could see were flashes of blue. Cecilus would emerge from his stream of lightning, his katanas raised above his head. Reinhard would yawn and wave his blade in front of him, bouncing the blue-haired foe away.

"Die." Bellowed Satella.

Cecilus skidded to a stop and laughed with joy. It was short-lived. The shadows in the enclosure sped toward the blue-haired knight. An invisible force wrapped around his body. His katanas dropped to the floor. His eyes widened with horror as the sensation of over a hundred different hands clawing rippled from all over. Reinhard stood in pure fear, staring at the shadowy exteriors of the unseen limbs.

"Satella- stop-"

"He is halting retribution. He deserves to die. We must save Subaru. Die. He needs to die. Die. Die! DIE! DIE!" Contorted the witch.

Reinhard stepped back for a moment. The woman he had come to know was completely different.

"Satella-"

"I am not Satella. I am the Witch of Envy."

Then it finally clicked in Reinhard's head. There were two sides to the coin. Satella and the Witch of Envy were not the same person. But rather shared the same body. He stepped toward her.

"Erm- We could use him..." He mumbled.

Cecilus screamed in agony as the hands twisted his body in opposite directions.

"He could aid us in saving Subaru..."

...

My eyes churned a black shade.

"Echidna," I called as we made eye contact.

"Yes...?" She asked, completely entranced.

"All you care for is bringing me pleasure."

Her grin then returned from before.

"Of course, Master Subaru."

The cage of ice and shadow then ceased into the air. Echidna fell into my arms, her body shivering from the cold. The chandelier above had ceased its swinging.

"Master Subaru..." She whimpered.

"Yes?"

Echidna shifted her body against mine.

"My body feels so hot... Relieve me."

I stood holding her in the immense hall, the room now silent in an instant. Emilia pressed nuzzled against me.

"Very well."

Emilia laid down on the ground, spreading herself out for me to lie down on. I sat atop her and rested my head against her cleavage. Echidna then climbed atop me. The two girls squeezed and sandwiched me between their bodies as tightly as they could. Echidna wrapped her legs around my waist and forced my member into her private spot. I bit my lip as I pushed further and further into her. Emilia moaned as her hands gripped my sides and then reached down to fondle my balls.

...

Cecilus sat in the corner of the room, unconscious. Reinhard tried to calm down the witch but it appeared she had other plans. She stepped toward him as the shadows around her consumed any innocence she had.

"What are you doing..." Muttered the red-haired knight.

The Witch of Envy pinned Reinhard against the wall. Her mouth pressed against his, their tongues interlocking.

Reinhard fought and hesitated against the force of evil that clung to him. But then, as he figured all things eventually did, he gave in. The witch climbed atop him. She squeezed and grabbed the knight as tightly as she could. She wrapped her legs around his waist and forced his member into her private spot. Reinhard bit his lip as he pushed further and further into her. The witch's hands gripped his sides even harder.

...

I pumped back and forth into Echidna, her breasts flattening against my face. I pushed back and forth under her enormous cleavage. My hands then slid along her back and down to her plump butt. I squeezed her cheeks while pushing further into her. I was smooshed against Emilia's body, her thighs wobbling as she gripped me closely.

...

The red-haired knight grabbed ahold of the witch's waist. He slid back and forth, faster and faster. Until eventually he could take no more. He pulled out from her and watched a stream of cum splattered against the witch. She smiled deviously and grabbed ahold of his hands. She forced them onto her creamy breasts, making sure he relished in the feeling. Her tongue extended downward to lick the sperm off of her fair skin.

...

A jolt of sperm then blasted out of me and into Echidna. A wet and tight feeling washed over me, the creamy sensation subsiding as I slid out from her. Echidna jiggled her breasts before me and then slammed them down onto my crotch. She jostled them about and buried my member in between her cleavage.

"I want a turn on top!" Complained Emilia.

The two silver-haired women then rotated positions. My head lowered onto Echidna's boobs, Emilia climbing atop and sliding my penis into her.
