Kanami awoke to the feeling of something slightly heavy on her chest.
She slowly opened her eyes to find herself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling: a fan spinning round and round above her head.
'Oh, right. That human's home...'
Kanami tilted her head up so that she could deduce the passenger lying on top of her breasts.
She showed her first smile, and Fat-Face smiled back.
"...Hey, girl. Were you worried about me..?"
Kanami warmly scratched the drooling beast behind her ears.
She wasn't necessarily a big pet person like her brother. She had a locust, but saw that as more of her partner in battle rather than something she wanted to cuddle with and take care of.
Fat-Face was different. A certified cutie-patootie if Kanami had ever seen one.
Kanami sat up fully and looked around the room.
Her husband was sitting in a chair at the foot of her bed. He was slumped over and sleeping while holding onto her foot.
