In a galaxy where a mysterious ray, attempting to evolve, heated the Earth, creating an entry point for a demonic species, demons disguised as humans sought to take over the world. However, the ray's energy unexpectedly granted ordinary people special powers, enabling them to defend themselves. As time passed, associations and groups formed, and a ranking system emerged based on the number of high-ranking demons killed. Kadden, ranked number one among Demon Reapers, held the top spot.
::: CURRENT TIME LINE:
Kadden emerged from the room with a gloomy expression, asking, "Hey, did you see my cat?" The woman, lounging on the couch, replied with a dismissive tone, "Ah, you mean that nasty black cat? I threw it in the pond. It kept getting in my way."
Kadden's anger flared, and he yanked her hair, tossing her into the pool. The woman splashed and fumed, "How dare you throw me in like that!"
Kadden's eyes gleamed with a cold intensity as he said, "You don't know what you've done, huh?" He chuckled darkly. "First, you cheated on me with others, then secretly killed my friend who discovered your true nature, and now you've killed my beloved cat. You think I'd let you off so easily?" With a flick of his wrist, he electrified the water, and the woman's life slipped away.
Kadden cradled his lifeless cat in his arms and left the house. At a serene tree, where memories of his cat lingered, he gently buried the feline and adorned the grave with flowers. Though sorrow threatened to overwhelm him, he suppressed his emotions, knowing he couldn't afford to falter.
He drove to his 7th-floor apartment, where Ciel, the Duke of the Demon World and Kadden's soul demon, awaited him. Ciel, resplendent in a luxurious suit, flashed a smirk. "You're back. How does it feel to lose someone?" He chuckled.
Kadden's response was curt: "None of your business." He retreated to his room, surrounded by photographs of people he had trusted. The pain of betrayal still lingered.
Meanwhile, Ciel continued playing video games, his amusement a stark contrast to Kadden's turmoil.
