CHAPTER 132: WHEN BREAKFAST TURNS INTO A LECTURE

"What on earth are you doing here?" Diana exclaimed, finally regaining her composure.

"Sorry," James apologized, holding up a brown paper bag. "I brought you breakfast," James said calmly. "I thought your meeting would end early."

"Wait," Diana raised an eyebrow skeptically. "How long have you been here?"

"Four, maybe five hours," James replied casually.

"What?" Diana's voice rose. "Don't you have work?"

"Well," James leaned back, a slight smile playing on his lips. "If you want me to work well, you shouldn't make me worry so much. You need to eat when you're supposed to and take care of yourself better—for me."

Diana sighed and gave a small nod. "Alright, I'm sorry. Come, sit." She led him to a chair. "Where's the food?"

James picked up the bag beside him and opened it. Inside were steaming porridge, Irish potatoes, and generous portions of chicken and beef.

"The doctor said you need to eat more protein," he said softly.

Diana glanced at the food and sighed. She picked up the spoon and began eating in silence. A few bites in, she paused and turned to look at him.

"Have you eaten?" she asked.

"No, I haven't," James admitted.

"Not even breakfast?" she pressed.

He shook his head. "No."

"Why?" Diana frowned. "You should have eaten something, at least."

"I was upset," James said simply. "You left without eating, and it bothered me."

With that, he opened the lunch she'd packed for him earlier. He spread the contents on the table and started eating.

Diana watched him for a moment, then sighed again, returning her focus to her food.

James paused and looked at her. "Why didn't you eat before leaving? Is it because my grandma didn't make breakfast?"

She shook her head. "I just didn't have the appetite. Trust me, I wanted to, but I couldn't."

"And now?" he asked, his voice gentle.

"It's back… a little," she admitted.

"That's good," James said, his tone lighter.

"How was the meeting?" James asked.

"It was okay," Diana replied. "We have some plans underway for the Prime Minister and an event we're planning for next weekend."

"Could that event be for Toby Champion?" James inquired.

"Yes, that Toby Champion," Diana confirmed.

"Wow, congrats!" James exclaimed, applauding lightly. "It's not easy to land a job for someone like Toby Champion."

"Well," Diana said with a hint of a smile, "in case you haven't noticed, your wife is quite charming and persuasive when she needs to be."

James raised his eyebrows, a playful glint in his eyes, before smiling. "I agree," he conceded. "But how did you manage it?"

"Well," Diana began, "I had the opportunity to attend a party hosted by the Minister of Works, thanks to my father. I met Toby there—I was surprised, to say the least. Especially when i found out later that his father is the Minister of Works. We got to talking, I told him what I do, and he was interested. I invited him to come by the office so we could discuss things further. That's how I landed the deal."

"And the Prime Minister," James continued, "is that why Cassandra came to your office?"

"How did you know about that?" Diana asked, a touch of surprise in her voice.

"I just put it together when you mentioned it now," James replied.

Just then, James's phone rang. He answered it on the second ring.
