Chapter 47 - Chapter 47

As they walked out of their father's office, Fray and Gwen's conversation turned to their favorite pastime, pranking the trainees. They giggled and whispered to each other, their silver eyes sparkling with mischief. "I've got it!" Fray exclaimed, her voice barely above a whisper. "We'll rig the alarm system to go off in their dorms tonight, and then we'll sneak in and switch their beds with the ones in the storage room. But here's the twist - each room will have a surprise waiting for them."

Gwen's eyes widened in excitement. "What kind of surprise?"

Fray grinned mischievously. "We'll set up a few... let's call them 'hazards'. In Ryan's room, we'll fill his bed with foam iron blocks that will look like his pillows. In Reina's room, we'll rig her closet to open automatically when the alarm goes off, and a bunch of balloons will spill out releasing a laughing gas. And in Claire's room, we'll set up a fake ' spider web' made of strings and iron darts that will cover her bed."

Gwen giggled. "That's perfect! But how are we going to get past the security cameras?"

Fray winked. "Leave that to me. I've been studying the camera angles, and I know exactly where to avoid. We'll be like ghosts."

The two girls continued to discuss their plan, their voices growing more animated as they brainstormed. They decided to set off the alarm system at midnight, when the trainees would be fast asleep. They would then sneak into the dorms and execute their plan, making sure that each room had a unique surprise waiting for the trainees.

As they finalized their plan, Fray and Gwen high-fived each other, their faces flushed with excitement. They couldn't wait to see the looks on the trainees' faces when they woke up to the chaos.

Unbeknownst to the girls, Julius had been listening in on their conversation from the office doorway. He smiled to himself, impressed by their creativity and cunning. However, he also felt a slight concern - the prank might go too far, and the trainees might get more than just a surprise but not more than they could handle. He knew he had to keep a close eye on them tonight, to make sure that the prank didn't get out of hand with everyone going ballistic.

As Fray and Gwen skipped away, laughing and whispering to each other, Julius watched them with a mixture of amusement and pride. He knew that his daughters were special case, and he was determined to help them develop their unique abilities. But for now, he would just let them have their fun, and enjoy the show while keeping a watchful eye on things.

Evening came and the sound of alarm system blared to life, the trainees were jolted out of their slumber, their eyes flying open in confusion. Ryan's gaze fell upon his bed, now a sea of foam blocks that seemed to mock him with their pillow-like shapes. He sat up with a start, his mind foggy, and rubbed his eyes, wondering if the strange sight would vanish with the friction. But the foam blocks remained, and Ryan's confusion gave way to irritation. He tossed aside the blocks, his movements swift and agitated, and swung his legs over the side of the bed only to hit a real iron block causing a fracture to his leg. He fell back on his bed the pain throbbing and his whole body feeling pricked by fear.

In Reina's room, the sudden burst of balloons was like a physical assault. The laughing gas wafted out, and Reina's eyes began to water. She with her ability tried to blast the window open so as to allow the released gas to escape I to the air but all efforts were to no avail, she with fast hands and reaction walked towards the window and opened it manually with her strength which now seemed diminished as she began to giggled uncontrollably, the sound bubbling up from her chest like a burst dam. She stumbled out of bed, her vision blurry, and staggered towards the door. The balloons seemed to multiply, filling the room with their cacophonous laughter, and Reina's disorientation grew. She bumped into the bedframe, her palms outstretched in front of her like a blind person feeling their way. The feeling of everything going out of her control dawned on her...

Claire's reaction was more dramatic. She shrieked in mock terror, her voice piercing the night air, as she took in the fake spider web covering her bed. The strings and foam "iron darts" seemed to writhe and twist, like living serpents, and Claire's skin crawled. She leapt out of bed, her heart racing, and stumbled towards the door. Her foot caught in the web, and she tumbled to the floor, her palms scraping against the rough carpet.

The other trainees were not faring much better. Some stumbled out of their rooms, bleary-eyed and disoriented, while others sat on their beds, rubbing their eyes in confusion. The alarm system continued to blare, adding to the chaos, and the trainees' faces were etched with frustration and annoyance.

As Fray and Gwen watched from the shadows, their laughter grew louder, their silver eyes gleaming with mischief . They were enjoying the spectacle, the trainees' reactions a testament to the success of their prank. But Julius, watching from a distance, saw the prank for what it was somewhat clever, if somewhat meant a spirited, joke. He knew it was time to intervene, to put an end to the chaos and restore order to the dorms as any other trainer would have done.

With a stern expression, Julius stepped forward, his voice firm but amused. "Girls, I think it's time to reveal yourselves," he said, his words cutting through the din of the alarm system. Fray and Gwen froze, their laughter dying down as they realized they'd been caught. They exchanged a nervous glance before stepping out of the shadows, their faces flushed with excitement.

The trainees, still disoriented and annoyed, turned towards Fray and Gwen of who were still of unknown identities, their eyes narrowing in anger in their thoughts. But Julius's presence seemed to diffuse the tension, and the trainees' anger gave way to resignation. They knew they'd been pranked, and they'd have to deal with the aftermath.

As the trainees began to clean up the mess, Fray and Gwen slipped back into their rooms, still giggling about their successful prank. Julius watched them go, a mixture of pride and amusement on his face. He knew that his daughters were special, and he was excited to see what other adventures they would come up with. But for now, he was content to let them bask in the glow of their triumph, knowing that they'd learn from their mistakes and grow from their experiences.
