Cassie Ferguson had just finished strapping on her military saber.
Then came a "plop" as something was thrown onto the bank.
Startled for a moment, Cassie almost subconsciously turned towards the sound.
It was two fish.
The fish, skewered by the sharp end of a bamboo stick, were not yet dead and were struggling fiercely at the water's edge, hopping and jumping as if fighting for their last chance.
Instinctively, Cassie frowned.
So fast?
But—
What was faster was still to come.
In that brief moment of distraction, she heard the sound of the river water being disturbed. She glanced to the side and saw Flossie Wright carrying her bamboo rod, already on her way back.
And on the lower end of her rod, there was another fish, still wriggling.
In just a few minutes, she had easily caught three fish.
"Are you coming too?"
Arriving at the shore, Flossie propped her fishing rod to one side and gave Cassie a faint look.
Cassie gave her a cold glance in return.
