She blinked, trying to gather composure. "Benjamin… I didn't think you'd come so soon."
He stood at the edge of the bed, arms crossed, gaze sharp. No warmth. No smile.
Just the man she once fantasized about, now staring at her like she was a stranger—or worse, a threat.
"Drop the act, Shelly," he said, his voice low but cutting. "You've got one chance. Tell me the truth, all of it. Why Mercy? Why Bianca? And what the hell were you really planning?"
She parted her lips to speak, but no words came. Her hands trembled slightly against the bedsheet.
"You think I don't know you've been communicating with Maximilian?" he added. "Or that your pregnancy was a cover for something bigger?"
Her eyes widened slightly. "I didn't... I didn't want to hurt anyone."
"You did," he snapped. "And now someone's dead."
