I was a dog.
Yes, a cute-looking doggo that you would usually see roaming around in the city streets. However, that was before that dastardly day.
Under the guise of giving me a treat, that man approached me.
It was a rainy day so finding food was tough and I was hungry. Naturally I was happy seeing the man. I wagged my tail to show my appreciation to the man and barked to show him my excitement. The man smiled at me and placed a biscuit packet on the ground.
While I was savoring that delicacy that man started talking to me. There were some humans from time to time who preferred to talk with me to pass time so I wasn't confused by his actions.
'Aren't you a lucky bastard?' The man said something to me, but I didn't understand it. I just barked to show my appreciation to him.
"While humans like me have to go and work every day to get some food, a dog like you can get treats like this for free… Tell me, is it fai?!"
Bark!
"It's not! It clearly is not! Why can a dog bastard like you enjoy a peaceful life while I'm getting my ass kicked by my boss every day? Those girls at my office look at me with disgust but I can bet that they won't have the same expression when they look at a dog bastard like you?"
The man was initially just talking to me but all of a sudden started shouting. I was growing unsure whether to stay there or not. Finally, I decided to grab a biscuit and make a run for it.
"Where are you going you bastard?!"
Yelp!
I got hit by a big stone and fell done. I tried to get up again to get far from the crazy human, however, I was shoved down by a kick. My body crashed on the concrete road and I cried out for help. No one came. My cries seemed to get submerged in the sound of rain.
Yelp! Yelp! Yelp!
I begged the human to stop kicking him. He didn't listen. He kept on kicking me as I felt my bones breaking under the siege of his merciless kicks. A few moments later, I couldn't even give out a yelp.
Breathing had become difficult, and everything pained.
"Aathu! Serves you well, you dog bastard," He spat on my almost lifeless body and left me there in that lonely street.
The cold rainwater continuously spattered on my body and made it even colder. My consciousness soon faded as I entered the eternal sleep.
That's what I thought, but the moment I opened my eyes, I found myself in this strange world where martial arts ran rampant and humans and beasts were capable of reaching unattainable heights by raising their martial proficiency.
"This time I'll make sure that I won't die so helplessly," I promised myself as I accepted the flood of information that had entered my mind about this new world.
