"I've come to visit, Velgrynd."
Akira heard a beautiful, delicate voice call out from the mouth of the cave—yet the voice carried an invisible pressure that weighed heavily on those who heard it.
Step.
Step.
Step.
Before the two of them appeared a stunning girl. She appears no older than a high school student, with fair skin, eyes the color of blue diamonds, and long, glossy pearl-white hair tied into twin tails reaching her waist.
This beautiful girl was none other than one of the True Dragons: the Frost Dragon Velzard, also known as the Ice Empress.
"Ara~, I didn't expect you to have guests."
Velzard spoke with feigned surprise, her blue eyes scanning Akira from head to toe. A glint of recognition flashed in her icy lake-like gaze.
"Wait… are you our new little brother?"
Velzard stopped in front of Akira, studying him with obvious curiosity. Her sapphire eyes traced his features with keen interest.
The reason for Velzard's visit to Velgrynd was twofold: first, to deal with Veldora, who had been rampaging uncontrollably after destroying two kingdoms not long ago; and second, to ask Velgrynd about their new fifth sibling, as she was deeply curious about him.
But she never expected this new brother to be living with Velgrynd.
"That's right. This is Akira—the Fifth True Dragon, also known as the Apocalypse Dragon."
Velgrynd replied indifferently, staring straight at Velzard.
"So, has Veldora been causing trouble again? Do you need my help to kill him?"
True Dragons were immortal beings who could never truly die. Even if slain, they would eventually revive after some time. This was why Velzard was so strict with Veldora—whenever he misbehaved, she would kill him, considering it a form of discipline.
Velzard let out a light laugh, her voice suddenly warm, like a snowy breeze gently brushing the surface of still water.
"Haha~ How strange!"
She circled Akira with light steps, examining him from different angles before suddenly stopping to stare at him with wide, sparkling eyes full of curiosity.
"So you're the one Velgrynd's been hiding from the rest of us? Wow~ You don't look half bad!"
She tilted her head slightly and grinned playfully, as if appraising a rare treasure.
"Hmm… Skin? Flawless. Aura? Extremely powerful. Features? Oh, how unfair—you're handsome too?!"
She giggled before shooting her sister a sidelong glance.
"You know? I think your taste has finally improved, Velgrynd~"
"It's not what you think."
Velgrynd replied flatly, though the tips of her ears turned slightly red—something Velzard, of course, didn't miss.
"Kyaaa~! You're blushing!"
Velzard hopped back in mock surprise, pressing a hand to her cheek as if witnessing something unbelievable.
"Since when do you get flustered like this, Velgrynd?"
Akira raised an eyebrow. He hadn't expected this kind of energy from a legendary entity known as the Ice Empress. But he sensed that this playful nature… was only one facet of her true self. Behind that spontaneity, she was still a True Dragon, fully capable of unleashing her overwhelming power.
"Anyway!"
Velzard suddenly raised a finger, as if remembering something important.
"I came here about our dear problem child, Veldora. That idiot destroyed two kingdoms in less than a week."
Then she turned to Akira and winked.
"But now that you're one of us, you'll have to get used to this family madness. We are True Dragons, after all~"
"Sounds fun."
Akira replied calmly, though his eyes gleamed with a hidden smile.
"I'll leave you two for now! I have a naughty dragon to punish—maybe turn him into an ice statue for a few centuries—"
Velzard paused mid-sentence, lifting her hand as if struck by a sudden thought.
"...Actually, never mind. It can wait."
She turned back to Akira, placing a hand on her hip while her eyes sparkled with playful enthusiasm.
"As your big sister, it's my moral, familial, legal, and symbolic duty to look after my little brother!"
She declared with exaggerated seriousness before laughing and perching on a snow-dusted rock as if settling in for a picnic.
Velgrynd blinked slowly, then said dryly:
"...Didn't you just say Veldora needed immediate discipline?"
Velzard waved her hand lazily, as if shooing away a fly.
"Ah, that fool isn't going anywhere. I'll find him easily later. Don't worry~ He won't escape my punishment."
Then she turned to Akira with a bright smile.
"Now, let's have some family time! I have so many questions for you, Apocalypse Dragon."
Akira studied her silently for a moment before asking calmly:
"Are you always… like this?"
She puffed up with pride, hands on her waist like she'd accomplished something grand.
"Of course! I am Velzard, the True Dragon of Ice, the Snow Empress, and the most amazing big sister ever~"
Velgrynd sighed deeply, closing her eyes.
"...Sometimes I forget you're actually older than me."
"Oh, don't be jealous~"
Velzard scooted closer to Akira, watching his expressions with fascination.
"Now, tell me—is he quiet? Does he eat a lot? Does he have nightmares?! Does he suddenly destroy his surroundings?"
Akira raised an eyebrow and replied with dry sarcasm:
"...Do you expect me to turn into a dragon in my sleep?"
"Well, we aren't exactly normal."
She laughed.
"The first time I slept, I accidentally froze half a continent~ It was so embarrassing."
"Did you regret it?" Akira asked, intrigued.
"Hmm… No. The continent looked much prettier covered in snow."
She beamed.
At that moment, Velgrynd felt a headache creeping into her temples—but she didn't mind too much.
Despite the chaos Velzard brought with her… the scene wasn't so bad.
In a way… it felt familial.
