Long before Sisyphus ascended to godhood, it had already prepared for its fall. For Sisyphus, an elemental being of fire, individual death was not significant because "fire is naturally inherited through generations."
The same bonfire, even if new wood is added daily to keep the fire burning endlessly, has fundamentally changed for a fire elemental; and the fire taken from here, if it ignites another bonfire elsewhere, is still connected to the original fire.
This is the "passing of fire."
