Mrs. Gu didn't like these uninvited guests. Her attitude towards Liu Manshu and Yao Xinzhu was already somewhat perfunctory; she just wanted to say a few casual words and send them away. Now with Huo Sining coming over, Mrs. Gu was naturally more than happy about it and immediately moved towards Huo Sining, not showing much enthusiasm towards the two sitting in the living room.
Liu Manshu and Huo Sining had not dealt with each other for the first time. At Chun Jing Garden, Huo Sining publicly embarrassed her, and later at Dashilan, her daughter An Yueru offended Huo Sining over a pair of enamel, ultimately being forced to go abroad.
