Chapter 708 - Chapter 708: Brother Cat, I will be your pendant from now on

'Holy cow…'

Andy looked at the Fat Cat Patronus in front of him with a strange look in his eyes.

Through their mental connection, Andy perceived what the Fat Cat Patronus had thought when casting the spell; it was completely different from how he would normally cast it.

All spells require a 'thought' or mental image before they can be cast.

Even the simplest and most commonly used cleaning spells require the caster to build a concept of rubbish in their mind before they can cast the spell to clean up.

The same goes for the Shield Charm.

To cast the Shield Charm, the wizard must first form the belief of protection in their mind and then cast the spell to manifest the defensive barrier.

Of course, these are just the basic requirements for casting a spell.

To truly master a spell, one must also learn the corresponding underlying theoretical knowledge.

For now, let's put that aside.

Let's get back to spellcasting.

Andy and the Fat Cat Patronus both 'thought' to cast the Shield Charm, but their 'thoughts' were completely different.

When the Fat Cat Patronus used the Shield Charm, Andy clearly sensed the Fat Cat's firm belief in protecting him.

More importantly, the moment the thought of protection arose, the Shield Charm was cast successfully.

Well...

You might ask, isn't it the same thing?

In fact, it really isn't the same thing!

For example:

When we type something on our mobile phone,

First, we form the words in our minds, and then we type them on the phone.

Let's compare this to spellcasting.

Forming the words is equivalent to the power of your mind.

Typing is the spellcasting process.

The typing speed and proficiency are equivalent to the level of your mastery of magic.

This is regular spellcasting!

But it's completely different with the Fat Cat Patronus.

All it does is construct a string of words in its mind, and then the words automatically appear on the screen of the phone.

In other words, the Fat Cat Patronus omits the spellcasting process.

This is the part that shocked Andy the most!

'Try again!' Andy thought inwardly.

Andy carefully sensed the Fat Cat's casting process through their mental link.

It was exactly the same as before!

"What about other spells?"

Andy asked the Fat Cat to try some other spells.

However, the results were not quite as satisfactory.

Perhaps it might be a problem of the mind. Apart from when casting spells to protect Andy, the Fat Cat's spellcasting process for other spells wasn't any different from normal casting.

"Huh,"

Andy took a deep breath.

Even so, it was enough to surprise Andy.

What is this concept?

If the real world is compared to the online world, then every wizard is an independent computer.

They can affect the online world through their own programs and even hack other computers.

But there is a prerequisite – that is, there must be a process of 'manual operation'.

But what about the Fat Cat Patronus?

When it comes to the function of 'protecting Andy', the Fat Cat Patronus can be compared to artificial intelligence.

It omits the manual operation process!

To put it bluntly, in Andy's opinion, the difference between regular spellcasting and the wish-fulfilment level is similar to the difference between an ordinary computer and artificial intelligence.

Um...

It's like comparing a hacker operating a computer.

With Jarvis or even Ultron...

Is there any comparison?

In the real world, this is the difference between a wizard and a god.

***

In the magic practice room, Andy and the Fat Cat Patronus looked at each other in silence.

Fat Cat Patronus's speciality only focused on protecting Andy.

Of course, this was already very impressive.

Lack of defence is the weakness of all wizards, including Andy. If only he could overcome his lack of defence, Andy would dare to take on the Ministry of Magic all alone.

There is nothing to fear!

What's more, the Fat Cat Patronus can defend against the Killing Curse.

That is the ultimate killing move!

'What next....'

Andy pondered.

For the time being, the easiest option is to let the Fat Cat Patronus use the Passive Resistance Spell on him – the same spell that Lily used to protect Harry.

The passive resistance spell can rebound the killing curse.

With the mental strength of the Fat Cat Patronus, it is fully qualified to cast this spell.

But...

This requires the premise of sacrificing one's life.

The Fat Cat Patronus is, of course, immortal, feeding on Andy's mental strength and residing in Andy's Patronus Charm.

As long as Andy does not die, the Fat Cat Patronus will exist forever.

But recovery also has a process.

Andy was not willing to treat the Fat Cat as a disposable consumable. As long as the cat is alive, it can play a crucial role in battle.

"Hmm..."

After thinking for a while, Andy opened the system panel.

The strength of the Fat Cat Patronus is closely linked to Andy's Mind, Thoughts and Will.

These three attributes are the Fat Cat Patronus' innate talents, and it can fully utilise the power of these attributes.

"In that case..."

Andy thoughtfully pinched his chin.

As mentioned earlier, increasing the [Mind] attribute to level 8 may only enhance Andy's mental strength, rather than sublimating his mind.

This is because Andy is still human.

The human mind is very complex.

It is difficult for Andy to be completely selfless.

However, the Fat Cat is different. It is the purest part of Andy's mind, born to protect, and it is willing to sacrifice everything for Andy.

Once Andy's [Mind] attribute reaches level 8, theoretically speaking, the Fat Cat might be able to use the passive resistance spell as a regular magic spell.

Resisting the killing curse will also become the norm!

"Hiss..."

Andy inhaled sharply.

Although it is only a theory at the moment, with Andy's current understanding of magic, it is not difficult to infer reality from theory.

'Should I increase [Magic] and [Will] to level 8?'

Thinking about this, Andy scratched his head in some distress.

[Alchemy] needs to be increased.

The [Constitution] attribute also needs to be increased.

The former affects the speed of obtaining [Potential Points], while the latter is related to the exploration of the Death Dimension.

Both of them are very important attributes.

Moreover, Andy had a vague feeling that it would take 16 [Potential Points] to increase a specific attribute to level 8, rather than 8 [Potential Points].

At the current rate, it would take Andy about 160 to 200 days, a full six months, to accumulate 16 points.

For two attributes, it would be a year!

"..."

Andy hesitated.

Voldemort was dead, so there was no need for Andy to fight at the moment.

Improving [Alchemy] would not only allow him to learn an additional skill but also increase the rate at which he could obtain [Potential Points].

On the other hand, improving [Magic] would only make him a little more powerful.

But Andy doesn't need to fight at the moment, so there's not much point in improving his combat effectiveness.

Dealing with Grindelwald is Dumbledore's business, and there is no conflict of interest between Andy and him. Even if Grindelwald causes a ruckus in Europe, it won't affect Andy in the slightest.

On second thought...

Andy looked at the Fat Cat Patronus in front of him and said encouragingly, "Brother Cat, I can't add any more points on you for now, so you have to work hard on your own and strive to improve yourself."
