Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 7:- The OATHLESS

A proud and arrogant king met his end in a way he never imagined. Legends say Vaelkris did not take the throne—he was cursed upon it. The Dusk Maw whispers that he was once a self-proclaimed King of the Godless Gate, but he sought something even the Void itself forbade—a truth beyond creation. His punishment was eternal exile, trapped in the Maw, where all he can do now is rule over the dead, a king of nothingness, a god of the forgotten. Those who enter his domain never return, and those who speak his name often find their voices stolen by the void itself.

"So did I leave a strong impression of myself on you?" Vaelith asked with a smug look, the weapon disappearing from his hand completely and leaving nothing but a trace of shadow in his hand. He walked up to me and put his hands on my shoulder with a serious look on his face, looking directly in my eyes, lowering his head as he stood at an astounding 8 feet tall. He began to utter every word with each word carrying a strong meaning, "This is just a normal being from the upper void. Beings from here are ruthless but not insane. Everyone fears them. Your world knows it, but does not reveal it to its people because somewhere down the course of writing this history, something went wrong at some point." Listening to him, I raised a question with frustration while clenching my fist, "What do you mean by it? I know how the rules and laws work in my realm. We know what our situation is, we know what these things are and we know how to counter it.", listening to my frustrated whining, Vaelith said with a sharp and loud voice, "Then tell me boy, what do you know about your so-called realm and the rules that regulates its existence." An expected and obvious answer came from my mouth as a guy of 14 years old. "These so-called voids are nothing but a gate that connects our world to another, some are co-operative while the others are not. Some wage wars against us, while some do not. We also get help from outside when we are short of manpower. After many research and analysis, our planet had many designated areas of safe space, yellow space, and red space. I now live in the safe space where these do not appear and the appearance of these occurrences is less than 0.1%. But within a week, 2 have already appeared. It is something that cannot be ignored but then again, we are prepared. The soldiers and the assisters are in the battlefield, keeping us safe when needed." Listening to my ending rumbling, Vaelith sighed like I am a fool. With anger rising in my voice, I asked "Why are you laughing? Unlike you, we humble humans don't live long, but we have been living like that for ages and we can continue doing that."

Vaelith just simply said, "When the conception of your reality and the understanding of your existence alters, you will come to understand what I am talking about. You are young, and I believe that within 10 years, you will understand reality. But, for now let's exit this void. This thing needs to be sorted out." We exited the void and the void was gone and time started flowing normally. "You said everything right, but do you know the occurrence?? Do you know how to counter it??" Vaelith posed me a question to which I replied "Yes, I know how to counter these things we have to be awakened and the awakening happens at the age of 10 years old but the downside is that when you awaken your powers you are sent to train and then to the battlefield which harms the initial innocence that the child harbors within itself. I know this world is not perfect, but there is no such thing as perfect, we were born due to flaws and we exist due to flaws, nothing more and nothing less. As per the occurrence of this, I don't know. I have no clue how they appear out of nowhere. The residents in this safe space are all people who didn't awaken their abilities and live as normal residents." Vaelith said "That logic is flawed, the world is governed under certain rules and this world's rule has very lenient restrictions. Are you sure you are normal?" I was taken back a bit, but I didn't lose my composure and answered it honestly, "Yes, I believe that I am normal. I don't want to be a hero or a villain or a saviour, I just want to be me." to which Vaelith stopped in his tracks and asked with a puzzled look "And why is that so?? Everyone wants to be a savior or do something with the powers they get, and you here say that even if you are not normal, you will just continue to be yourself and lead a normal life?" I just replied with a smile that depicts sadness "What's wrong with being myself?? Moreover, when the powers mattered the most to me, it didn't come to me, so what is the use of it now?" Seeing me, Vaelith stopped asking me questions and said, while ruffling my hair, "Kid Power is not a gift, nor a right—it is a weight. To wield it is to bleed for it, to bear its burdens, and to meet its demands. Those who crave it seldom understand it. Those who fear it will never grasp it. And those who deserve it… never seek it. You have something that you don't understand yourself. Dont limit yourself, explore it, mold it and command it. When the time comes, you will be able to save people like yourself, who want to rely on someone but the hope never came. Become the hope, walk your path, bounded by neither heroism nor villainy, neither destiny nor duty. Do not seek to save, nor to destroy—but to exist, to act, to change, without the chains of expectation. Become "The OATHLESS".
