[Shika's POV]
Flying has always been a dream for humankind, no matter which world it is. Some pray to have wings on their backs, while others take matters into their own hands to create devices that let them soar the skies.
But no matter how impressive something is, sooner or later, the novelty wears off. The same was the case with me. Here I was, flying on the back of Nue once again. The only difference was that I was alone this time around.
It hasn't even been two days since Karin became the Jinchuriki of the Three Tails, and after returning to the base, here I was, already on the move to find yet another Jinchuriki. Sometimes, I wonder why I was made a Nara. Why not an Uzumaki, with their seemingly unlimited energy? All this work is nothing but torture for a Nara like me… sigh.
After a single day of rest at the base, making sure our new Jinchuriki and her tenant were well settled, I had to move out again to find another Biju. Besides the two Biju we already have, there's only one other I can take before I start a war—the very thing I'm trying to prevent.
The Six Tails Jinchuriki is the only other Biju that hasn't been with a hidden village for a long time. Of course, both the Three Tails and Six Tails were traditionally given to the Hidden Mist by Hashi-idiot, as Madara and others would put it, but what did they do with them? They lost them like they were casual pets for some Daimyo. Well, I can't be too harsh on them; they, too, were completely harassed by the likes of Obito.
Anyways, finding the Six Tails Jinchuriki was my goal right now. After that, I better stop looking for more nation-destroying godzillas. From then on, Yuguure will have to completely focus on saving the said godzillas from the Akatsuki while, if possible, taking down those black-cloak-with-red-clouds bastards.
Now that I think about the Akatsuki, the news from that side is not good. Both the Hidden Cloud and Hidden Rock have been attacked—not directly, but according to reports from Haku and Kimimaro, both the Two Tails Jinchuriki, Yugito Nii, and the Four Tails Jinchuriki, Roshi, are missing.
This is not a good sign. Though neither confirmed it was done by the Akatsuki, if not them, then who else? Unless there's another organization somewhere out there planning a monster hunt.
Sigh…
For now, considering those two a lost cause would be the best option. I can't believe I'm saying this, but having someone like Zetsu around is useful in situations like this. Those fuckers are the best damn spies out there. Obito could get information from the entirety of the Elemental Nations. If I had a spy system like theirs, the Akatsuki would never have gotten to those Jinchuriki.
Another thing worrying me is why the Akatsuki has started taking drastic actions.
Since there's no response from Sasuke, I'll assume for now that Gaara is fine. This means they are no longer targeting Biju according to the number of their tails. What gives? I thought that was a thing?
This also means they won't wait to go after stronger Biju like Kurama in Naruto if they continue at this pace. Sigh…
I thought I had more time. This is much faster than I anticipated—no doubt the consequences of my actions.
This isn't even the start of Shippuden yet, according to this world's timeline.
One Tail, Five Tails, Six Tails, Eight Tails, and Nine Tails. Removing the Biju under my control and the ones they've already captured, that leaves five more targets. I have no idea where they'll act next. I just have to trust the teams looking out for them for now.
Sasuke and Jugo are currently in the Hidden Sand, keeping an eye on Gaara.
Suigetsu and Haku are in the Hidden Rock, fully focused on preventing an attack on the Five Tails.
Kimimaro and Guren are keeping watch over the Eight Tails in the Hidden Cloud.
That leaves only the Six Tails and Nine Tails. I'm already on my way to the Six Tails, but unfortunately, I don't have enough manpower to station someone to look after Naruto.
Hope his plot armor is active. Otherwise, the strongest Biju and arguably the only hope for this rotting continent will fall into the Akatsuki's hands.
As if that weren't enough, I got more bad news. Going to the JJK world was nothing but a headache, but I did get something good from there—I got my hands on Naruto's manga. My canon knowledge had already reached its limit. My mere mortal brain could no longer take any advantage of it, at least not after how much I've twisted the story. Nonetheless, it was a good thing.
The manga was how I tracked down the Three Tails—both with its help and Karin's—and it will be the reason I find the Six Tails Jinchuriki as well. So, while flying on Nue's back, I was catching up on yet another boring filler arc Kishimoto wrote while probably being somber. He must have run out of whatever substance put him in that high zone where his creativity flowed. How else would anyone explain the crazy story manipulations in Naruto?
Whatever, getting off track here. It was a boring filler, but I managed to get through it—only to see something at the end that nearly gave me a heart attack.
I saw all Six Paths of Pain waiting for the Six Tails Jinchuriki at the end of the filler, right when everything seemed hunky-dory.
Why is this a big deal, some may ask? After all, it's canon, right? Not something that has actually happened yet.
Well, remember how I don't remember everything about Shippuden? I didn't know this either. Until now, I was under the impression that Nagato himself didn't take action. And if he did, he had to be close to the location where he planned to use his Six Paths puppets, like during the Konoha attack.
But what if I'm wrong? What if he doesn't need to do that—at least not when he doesn't have to use his full power?
That would mean that in my plan, where I detailed every single Akatsuki member and their expected course of action, I completely overlooked the strongest one…
This means that aside from Itachi, Kisame, Obito, and Zetsu, I also have to keep an eye on Pain and Konan making a move.
I have a feeling the world is going to pull a "gotcha" on me any time now…
