Chapter 208 - Chapter 208: A Pawn Gaining Too Much Power

Not far from where Kazuki and Black Zetsu were, Obito's performance was about to begin.

Uchiha Rin's lifeless body lay on the ground, a diary conveniently covering the hole in her chest.

The Alliance shinobi, attracted by the smell of blood, arrived at the scene with cruel expressions, fixing their gaze on Obito and the corpse at his feet.

"Well, well... another lamb to the slaughter!"

Despite the mask covering his face, the Iwagakure ANBU's voice could not hide his sadism.

"A Konoha ninja coming to rescue that Uchiha woman… Catch him alive!"

"And what about the girl? How did she die? Take her corpse away, her body has value for investigation... Damn Uchiha!"

Every time the Iwa ANBU uttered the word Uchiha, he gritted his teeth in suppressed fury.

Ever since Uchiha Kazuki's name became synonymous with terror in his village after massacring thousands of Iwa shinobi in an instant, the entire Uchiha clan had been condemned to his hatred.

If they couldn't kill Uchiha Kazuki, they could at least vent their anger on any other Uchiha.

The Alliance shinobi surrounded Obito on all sides.

Obito's eyes turned a deep red, as if hell itself burned in his gaze.

There were shinobi from all the villages.

They were the ones who had chased Rin, the ones responsible for her ending up crossing paths with Uchiha Setsuna…

Both within his own clan and outside of it, why was everyone against him? Why did everyone want to hurt Rin?

A tremendous hatred and fury ignited within him, the most potent fuel for the Uchiha blood…

The Mangekyo pattern spun wildly, distorting space with Kamui's force. In the blink of an eye, the bodies of the nearest shinobi were caught in the spatial turbulence.

Obito's eyes glowed blood red, filled with anger. But he didn't care. He increased Kamui's power even further.

[Crack!]

The spatial whirlwind tore the enemies into bloody fragments.

However, as he looked at the dismembered remains floating around him, Obito felt his rage intensify rather than subside.

No… He didn't feel like he was really getting revenge…

Killing with Kamui was too fast. It didn't give them time to feel the pain he wanted to inflict on them.

"Arghhh!"

An inhuman roar erupted from his chest. In a fit of rage, thick wooden branches sprouted from his arm, and he threw them with devastating force.

Thanks to the strengthening of White Zetsu, his physical strength was overwhelming. The branches pierced the chest of the Iwagakure ninja who had shouted the loudest before.

"Kill him! This guy can use Wood Release! This must be another monstrous experiment from those damn Konoha scientists!"

"Attack!"

The Alliance shinobi counterattacked by launching a wave of ninjutsu.

But when the ninjutsu reached Obito, they simply passed through his body as if they were hitting the air.

They couldn't touch him.

Obito wielded one of its sharp branches and, one by one, slaughtered all the shinobi on the battlefield with his own hands.

The earth was soaked with blood.

But not even the massacre could calm his crazed soul.

Pain…

It hurt too much…

"Rin..."

"This place… is hell!"

Having finished off all of his enemies, Obito strode towards Rin's body. The murderous ferocity on his face faded, leaving only immense pain… and fear.

His trembling hands took the diary that covered Uchiha Rin's chest.

When he pulled it away, the deep wound from the katana blade was exposed again.

Obito cried in despair.

His fury turned against his own White Zetsu arm, which he destroyed with Kamui until it was reduced to a shapeless mud. With extreme care, he tried to fill the hole in Rin's chest.

"Rin."

"Even so, you're still beautiful… Don't worry…"

Kazuki, hearing those words, raised an eyebrow and looked at Black Zetsu with a mocking smile. "Don't you want to go out and greet him?"

"Perhaps it's a good time to reveal yourself. After all, Obito just said that even if you were White Zetsu on the inside… you would still be beautiful."

Black Zetsu lowered his head in silence.

Inexplicably, a mixture of emotions invaded him: bitter gratitude, fear... and distrust towards Kazuki's unpredictability.

Just now, that man had warned him about the changes in Obito's personality…

And now, he was pushing him to go out and meet Obito...

What on earth does he want to do?!

Dark, chaotic, ruthless, treacherous, greedy…

But above all… powerful.

Those were Black Zetsu's thoughts about Kazuki.

Obito, for his part, held Rin's diary in his hands.

The cover, once delicate and well-kept, was now soaked in a deep red.

Blood.

Rin's blood…

The pages were completely stained.

But…this was her last legacy.

Obito couldn't ignore it. He had to read it.

In addition to blood…

The hole in the cover of the diary, pierced by the katana, reminded him relentlessly of the wound in Rin's chest.

Finally, after a long time, he gathered the courage to open it.

Black Zetsu is silent.

Kazuki is smiling.

Meanwhile in a corner of the shinobi world, Uchiha Madara watched the awakening of his 'chess piece's' Mangekyō with a stunned expression.

No, is this kid so fierce?

Uchiha Madara fell into deep thought.

Not only were Kazuki and Black Zetsu spectators...

Uchiha Madara was also watching.

Although he felt that Uchiha Obito was just a chess piece, awakening the Mangekyo was an important event after all. So he, the greatest hidden mastermind of the shinobi world, had to make sure that everything went according to plan...

If something went wrong, at least he would be prepared to intervene.

The good news was that there were no unforeseen events.

The bad news… was that things had gone too well.

"Obito's dojutsu is actually a space-based technique, which is really beyond my expectations..."

After seeing Obito's Kamui, Madara's contempt for him was also diminishing.

Even in the millennia-long history of the Uchiha clan, this dōjutsu was among the most powerful ever seen.

Madara remembered the battle between Obito and the Shinobi Alliance. With his vast combat experience, he broke down the workings of Obito's Mangekyo technique.

After a moment of analysis, he muttered to himself, "His right eye seems to be linked to some kind of alternate dimension. That's why when he's attacked, he can alternate between solidity and intangibility…"

"His left eye, on the other hand, can manipulate space within a given area, using distortion as a means of attack."

"Plus, he can move through his other dimension… a truly extraordinary ability."

Even for someone as proud as Madara, it was impossible not to recognize the greatness of these Mangekyo techniques.

"Generally speaking, with these eyes, Uchiha Obito has already surpassed that bastard Tobirama in mobility. In fact, he is far more troublesome than him…" Madara calmly mused. "He also has great offensive capabilities. Spatial distortion far surpasses conventional ninjutsu…"

"And if that wasn't enough, he has mastered Wood Release… His combination of Senju and Uchiha powers has advanced too quickly due to the great emotional stimulation."

At this moment, Uchiha Madara couldn't help but feel a little tricky.

Obito, with his Kamui, was becoming increasingly difficult to control…

Those eyes combined attack, defense, and mobility into one skill. Combined with Hashirama's cells, Obito had a nearly inexhaustible supply of chakra…

And there was still one more piece missing in this puzzle: Susanoo.

"This power is really troublesome… If he could lose one of his eyes, Obito would be more manageable…" Madara pondered this possibility.

With only one Kamui, Obito would still be a useful pawn.

"If I use the cursed seal to force him to tear out his eye, he will definitely turn against me…" Madara shook his head and dismissed the idea for now.

"In any case, I have the cursed seal to control Obito. At least, we are in a balanced relationship…"

Madara calmed down a little. The seal was engraved directly on Obito's heart and was discreet enough to remain undetected.

If any trouble arose between the two, he would always have the advantage. Even if Obito were to master Izanagi, it would be of no use against him.

Furthermore, he highly doubted that Obito would be willing to sacrifice the eye he obtained through Rin's tragedy just to activate a jutsu that would leave him blind.

Madara was sure that he would rather die than do so.

At that moment, Uchiha Madara thought of Kazuki again...

With Obito's power increasing beyond expectations, Madara needed Kazuki more than ever. If he could convince him to join the Eye of the Moon Plan, together with Obito's Kamui, they could drastically speed up the collection of the nine Tailed Beasts.

Furthermore, the relationship between Kazuki and Obito seemed to be quite close.

Could he take advantage of that?

Although, from Madara's perspective, Kazuki had no way to defeat Obito... wasn't he there to help? If the elder and younger brothers joined forces, couldn't they completely subdue a mere Obito?

"I'll talk to Uchiha Obito first, see what he thinks now that he's awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan..." Madara muttered with a glint in his eyes. "I must retrieve the Rinnegan. Before that, I'll pay a visit to Kusagakure..."

"Box of Ultimate Bliss... I hope this little artifact will give me some power."

"I can't let the Rinnegan pass through Uchiha Obito's hands. It's too dangerous. I'll have to do it myself..."

With an order, a White Zetsu merged with his body and, using the Mayfly technique, he sank into the ground.

Initially, Madara wanted Obito to be his enforcer and retrieve Nagato's Rinnegan.

But now...

With Obito reaching a level of power beyond calculations, many things had become complicated.

As the mastermind behind the shinobi world could no longer simply stay behind the curtain; he had to act on his own...

Even if it meant lowering himself to seeking a mere tool of the Sage of Six Paths, doing something unworthy of his reputation as the Shura of the Shinobi World.

But circumstances dictated his actions.

Still, his situation is better than in the original timeline...

Thanks to Kazuki's presence, Madara had begun to imagine a future where two brothers fought together. This had led him to become more concerned about his own health.

Although he hated his aging, he did everything he could to regain his vitality. All in the hope that when the time came to meet Kazuki, he would be able to present himself with dignity...
