Katherine hummed a gentle tune under her breath as she gently brushed Maya's silky hair. The room smelled faintly of strawberries from the detangling spray she'd used earlier. Maya sat on a cushioned stool in front of the vanity, kicking her feet in excitement and wiggling in place. Her face sparkled with joy as she talked non-stop.
"I want to ride everything, Mommy!" she declared, her voice bright and filled with energy. "The rollercoaster, the spinning cups, the pirate ship—oh! And the ferris wheel too!"
Katherine chuckled as she parted Maya's hair, weaving it into two even pigtails. "Everything, huh?" she teased softly, looping one section into a perfect little loop. "You'll need a lot of energy for that, sweetheart."
Maya nodded eagerly, catching her own excited expression in the mirror. "I have lots of energy today! 'Cause Uncle Felix is coming with us, right?"
