Chapter 82 - Chronicle 82 ~ Dragon Pearl (1)

As the dust settled, Vin, Mara, and Zara surveyed the aftermath of their intense battle. The temple's corridors, once shrouded in mystery, now lay exposed, revealing secrets hidden for centuries. With Malak defeated, they could finally explore the ancient structure.

The corridors, crafted from polished black stone, stretched outward like a labyrinth. Intricate carvings adorned the walls, depicting scenes of ancient wars and powerful magic. The air was heavy with the scent of incense and old dust.

As they ventured deeper, the corridors branched into multiple paths, each leading to distinct chambers. Some contained ancient artifacts, while others held cryptic murals or mysterious energy signatures.

The corridors twisted and turned, lined with intricate carvings, depicting ancient battles and Mystical creatures.

Vin's God's Eye pulsed, guiding them through the maze-like passages. Vin's God's Eye detected hidden symbols etched within the walls, pulsing with faint blue energy.

Finally, they reached the central chamber, an imposing structure with a high, vaulted ceiling. The room was dominated by a majestic throne, carved from a single piece of gleaming obsidian. The throne seemed to absorb the light around it, radiating an aura of supreme otherworldly power.

And now Vin was sure if it, the aura coming from it was that same type of supreme might his Hell Phoenix bloodline had, but he just didn't know why.

The walls were lined with ancient tapestries, woven from threads of silver and gold. These tapestries depicted the history of the Temple, somewhat from its creation to the wars that shaped its destiny.

At the throne's base, an intricate mosaic floor glimmered, composed of tiny, polished stones. The mosaic depicted a stylized image of the Dragon Spine mountain range, with each peak representing a distinct realm.

Mara approached the throne, her eyes wide with awe. "This is the Heart of the Dragon Spine," she whispered. "A place of ancient power and wisdom."

Vin's gaze swept the chamber, his God's Eye absorbing every detail. "This place seem a little bit special, I just need to figure out how and why."

Zara, ever vigilant, patrolled the perimeter, ensuring their safety.

Vin's gaze fell upon the throne a thought flashed through his mind as he seemed to have discovered something. 'I think I know how. The throne itself seems like a core.'

With that thought, Vin approached the throne, his hand reaching out to touch the obsidian surface. As he did, the chamber began to shift, ancient energies stirring.

The throne's surface rippled, revealing a hidden compartment on the right side. Within lay a small, crystal orb.

"This seems like it's linked to the entire temple, it's like a core or something" Vin exclaimed as he focused the full attention of God's Eye on it, he noticed that there were intricate carved Runes on its surface that was connected to the entire temple.

Now he was starting to suspect that this place wasn't ordinary afterall. And he had a feeling that there was more to it that met the eye.

Mara's eyes sparkled. "What secrets lie within?"

Vin's smile was enigmatic. "Let's find out."

He didn't know why, or how he knew that, maybe it was out of instincts that made him do what he did next, as he sat down on the throne and placed his hand on the small crystal orb.

But nothing seemed to happen at that moment, he was a little bit disappointed as he had thought something grand was going to happen.

Just he was sliding his hand away from the crystal orb, there was a slight protrusion at the edge of the contraption, that was quite sharp as it made small cut on his palm, allowing a drop of blood to touch the crystal orb.

Before Vin could even register what had caused the slight pain in his palm, his mind was dragged somewhere else.

The only thing he could see was the gruesome scene of war, and he wasn't even sure he could call it that as it seemed that there were five different races including the human race besieging a single dragon.

The dragon seemed to have just gone through an evolution, so it seemed quite weak, although that was only taking its appearance, as it strength was nothing to scoff at.

Despite being attacked by hundreds of people, it still stood valiantly, fighting all of them as dwindling their numbers, but because of its recent evolution, it's energy was still unstable.

As Vin's blood touched the crystal orb, his mind was transported to a realm of ancient memories, witnessing a pivotal moment in the Dragon Spine's history.

The battle raged on, with five races - humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, and demons - united against a singular foe: a majestic dragon, freshly evolved and vulnerable.

The dragon's scales glistened like polished obsidian, its wingspan casting a shadow over the landscape. Despite its weakness, the dragon fought valiantly, claws swiping through the armies with deadly precision.

Vin watched in awe as the dragon's flames engulfed enemy ranks, reducing armor to molten slag. Its roar shook the earth, sending tremors through the battlefield.

The allied forces were relentless, fueled by a hunger for power and revenge. They hurled spells, arrows, and steel at the dragon, each blow landing with precision.

The dragon stumbled, its energy waning. Vin sensed its desperation, its will to survive burning brighter with each passing moment.

As the battle turned against the dragon, its foes closed in for the kill. The dragon's eyes blazed with determination, and it unleashed a final, mighty roar.

Vin felt the dragon's resolve, its refusal to yield. With a burst of strength, the dragon launched itself at its attackers, claws tearing through armor and flesh.

The dragon's wings beat fiercely, generating whirlwinds that sent enemies flying. Its flames engulfed the landscape, scorching the earth and charring the skies.

But the allied forces were too numerous, too strong. They wore the dragon down, their blows chipping away at its defenses.

The dragon's vision began to blur, its strength failing. Vin sensed its sorrow, its knowledge that defeat was imminent.

In a final act of defiance, the dragon gathered its remaining energy. With a burst of radiant power, it imploded, unleashing a cataclysmic explosion that shattered the landscape.

The blast wave ripped through the armies, sending survivors stumbling back. When the dust settled, the dragon lay motionless, its body shattered, its essence lost to the winds.

Vin's mind reeled as he witnessed the dragon's downfall. He felt the weight of its sacrifice, the loss of a legendary creature.

A single thought echoed through Vin's mind: the dragon's pearl, containing the majority of its powers, was lost forever, hidden within the ruins of the battlefield.

As the vision faded, Vin found himself back in the central chamber, his hand still touching the crystal orb. Mara and Zara watched him, concern etched on their faces.

"Vin, what did you see?" Mara asked, her voice soft.

Vin's eyes slowly focused. "A battle," he whispered. "A dragon, besieged by five races. It fought valiantly, but... it lost."

Zara's ears perked up. "What dragon?"

Vin's gaze drifted to the throne. "I don't know, but its pearl... its powers... are hidden somewhere."

Mara's eyes sparkled. "We need to find that pearl."

Vin nodded, determination burning within him. "We will. But first, we need to understand the secrets of this temple."

The crystal orb pulsed, its runes glowing brighter. Vin sensed a hidden message, a cryptic clue to unlocking the temple's mysteries.

And soon enough he found out it was actually a map of where he could only assume was the dragon pearl, and he was quite stunned to say, because as soon as he saw the map, he knew where the pearl was located and it wasn't far from their position.

But that wasn't the only surprise he got as Vin felt an intricate connection with the temple, like he could control it with a thought.

He felt shocked as well as ecstatic, that was because with the crystal orb as the link, he had scanned the entirety of the temple, and he had discovered quite a few interesting things.

He deliberated if he should inform Mara of this, but decided not to, not that he didn't trust her, but there was certain things you don't need to tell everyone.

He stood up from the throne, there was a faint brief smile on his face "I think I found the location of the pearl." he announced to his two companions.

They were both surprised as his words as it seemed almost unbelievable, but they trusted him enough to believe what he said.

Before they left Vin had mara take some of the treasures within the temple, that was the least he could do for her.

With renewed purpose, Vin, Mara, and Zara set out to unravel the secrets of the Dragon Spine, their journey now intertwined with the legacy of the fallen dragon.

When they had gotten quite a distance from the temple, no one noticed that the temple started shrinking till it was only palm sized before whizzing slowly towards Vin and vanishing the moment it touch his hands.

Vin had stored the temple in his small world, now it was time to find that dragon pearl.
