Chapter 90 - Chronicle 90 ~ Tower Of Trials (2)

Frankly when Vin heard those words he was quite stumped, he thought the Tower of Trials was playing a huge joke with him, so at first he wanted to laugh it off.

But all of a sudden a blinding flash of light immediately enveloped him, and his body felt weird as if it was going through space, this was teleportation, something he didn't think he would get used to.

When he came to, he found himself in what could only be described as a waste land filled with upmost barreness. There was nothing for miles on end except for the cracked red earth.

He seemed to have been transported to an entirely different world, except this place was empty and quite. Just as Vin was wondering what he would do next, a certain glowing figure appeared in front of him.

Vin wanted to rush at it, but a single glance made sure he couldn't move, Then the figure spoke "Welcome contentant to the twentieth floor's trial, trial objective... Error... Error.... You trial has been overridden and is being influenced by a higher force"

"You have skipped the first nineteen levels of your trial, hidden trial has been unlocked due a special bloodline being detected, new trial objective ~ SURVIVE"

The moment the glowing figure finished speaking, it vanished without giving any other information or instructions except to survive.

Vin didn't even get to say anything before he was chunked into a situation he didn't even understand, and he didn't even know how long he was meant to survive as he wasn't given any duration.

Vin decided he wasn't going to be a sitting duck and thought he should explore this place, but the moment he took a single step, it seemed to be the trigger of the trial.

Large dark glowing portals suddenly appeared almost a kilometer in front of him, and from within creatures straight out of a nightmare began pouring out.

Vin wasn't just stuned by the portals, but what almost took his breath away was the sheer number of them, there were dozens of portals, and hundreds of creatures were pouring out like sand on a beach.

When the creatures had hit the thousand number mark, the portals vanished like it was never there, when Vin took a good look at those creatures, he knitted his brows in a huge frown.

The creatures that emerged from the dark glowing portals were unlike anything Vin had ever seen. They were twisted abominations, forged from the very depths of nightmares. Their bodies were a mass of writhing, pulsing tendrils, like living darkness given form.

Each creature stood around three meters tall, their elongated bodies covered in glistening black scales that seemed to absorb the faint light of the barren landscape. Eyes glowed like embers, burning with an otherworldly energy that sent shivers down Vin's spine.

Long, spindly limbs ended in razor-sharp claws, capable of tearing steel apart. The creatures' heads were distorted parodies of human faces, with twisted mouths filled with rows of jagged teeth.

As they moved, their bodies seemed to shift and writhe, like living shadows. The air around them rippled with dark energy, leaving trails of corrupted air in their wake.

The creatures' very presence seemed to poison the earth, causing the cracked red soil to wither and die. Vin could feel the ground itself trembling beneath his feet as they approached.

Their numbers were staggering, over a thousand strong, and Vin knew he couldn't take them on alone. The creatures seemed to be drawn to him, their twisted faces twisting into grotesque grins as they closed in.

Vin's gaze swept the horizon, searching for any advantage. The barren landscape offered little cover, but he spotted a cluster of jagged rock formations in the distance.

With a deep breath, Vin steeled himself for the battle ahead. He knew his Sword technique and Nine Chronicles of Hell would be put to the ultimate test.

"I'll need to conserve my strength," Vin thought, eyes narrowing. "These creatures won't go down easily."

As the creatures closed in, Vin drew his sword, its blade shimmering with a faint, ethereal glow.

"Time to see what I'm truly capable of," Vin whispered, charging forward into the fray.

The battle had begun, and Vin's survival hung in the balance.

Vin charged forward, his sword flashing in the faint light of the barren landscape. The creatures, sensing his determination, surged forward with renewed ferocity.

The first creature to fall was a towering monstrosity with jaws wide enough to swallow Vin whole. Vin dodged its initial attack, using the opening to strike at its exposed neck. His sword sliced through the creature's scales, releasing a burst of dark energy that sent Vin stumbling back.

Undeterred, Vin regained his footing and launched himself at the next creature, a wiry abomination with claws that raked across the ground. Vin parried its attacks with precision, waiting for the perfect moment to counterattack.

His sword sliced through the creature's chest, releasing a shower of dark energy that splattered across the ground. The creature dissipated into nothingness, leaving Vin to face the next wave of attackers.

The battle raged on, Vin weaving through the sea of twisted bodies, his sword flashing with deadly precision. He dodged claws and teeth, exploiting every opening to strike back.

Each creature fell, but more took its place, their numbers seemingly endless. Vin's breathing grew ragged, his muscles burning from the relentless pace.

Just when it seemed the tide would overwhelm him, Vin's training kicked in. His Sword technique and Nine Chronicles of Hell merged into a seamless dance, each strike building upon the last.

Vin's sword sliced through the creatures, releasing bursts of dark energy that fueled his own strength. The battlefield became a blur of steel and shadow, Vin's focus narrowing to the singular goal of survival.

Hours passed, or perhaps it was mere minutes - Vin lost all sense of time. His world condensed to the clash of steel and claw, the endless struggle to stay upright.

And yet, with each fallen creature, Vin felt his power growing. His sword strikes became swifter, his footwork more fluid. The creatures began to falter, their attacks slowing as Vin's determination intensified.

The turning point came when Vin faced a behemoth creature, its body a twisted mass of dark energy. Vin's sword flashed with a fierce cry, striking true and unleashing a blast of energy that sent the creature stumbling back.

The remaining creatures hesitated, their advance faltering. Vin seized the moment, launching a devastating combination that shattered the creatures' resolve.

One by one, they dissipated into nothingness, leaving Vin standing victorious amidst the barren landscape.

Breathless, Vin stood tall, his sword still trembling with the force of his final blow. The silence was oppressive, punctuated only by the sound of his own ragged breathing.

Vin's gaze swept the horizon, searching for any sign of the trial's end. Instead, he saw a figure emerging from the distance - the glowing entity that had initiated the trial.

"Trial outcome: Success," it declared, its voice echoing through the stillness. "Survival time: 37 minutes, 14 seconds."

Vin's eyes narrowed. "What's next?"

The entity vanished, leaving Vin to face the unknown challenges ahead. Vin's question hung in the air, unanswered. The barren landscape stretched out before him, eerily silent.

Suddenly, the ground began to shake, and the sky darkened. A low rumble grew in intensity, becoming a deafening roar.

Vin's gaze snapped upward as a massive storm cloud coalesced above. Lightning illuminated the darkened landscape, casting eerie shadows.

A voice boomed from the cloud, "Trial 21: Tempest's Fury."

Vin's eyes narrowed. "Another trial?"

The cloud responded, "Your survival has earned you the right to face the next challenge."

Without warning, the storm unleashed its fury. Torrential rain pounded the ground, threatening to sweep Vin away.

Vin drew his sword, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

The storm intensified, lightning bolts striking the ground mere meters away. Vin danced between the strikes, his agility pushed to the limit.

As suddenly as it began, the storm ceased. The silence was oppressive, punctuated only by the sound of dripping water.

Vin stood panting, his sword still trembling from the exertion, this was truly a trial of survival as he didn't know what he would face next.

A figure emerged from the distance - a woman with long, flowing hair and piercing green eyes.

"Welcome, contestant," she said, her voice husky. "I am Aria, your next opponent."

Vin's gaze locked onto Aria, his mind racing with strategies.

Aria smiled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Let's see if you can survive my song."

With a flick of her wrist, Aria summoned a lyre. Her fingers danced across the strings, unleashing a melody that seemed to shred Vin's very soul.

Vin stumbled back, his defenses shaken, but his resolve was still blazing strong, unwilling to bend by any means.

Aria's smile grew wider. "Your determination is admirable, but can you withstand my symphony?"

Vin gritted his teeth, steeling himself for the battle ahead.
