Chapter 127 - An Alliance (2)

With the 15 dragons having been healed of both their wounds, and their exhaustion, it was time for Night Silver to take care of some other business. Brightness was able to pick up on what his mate was thinking, and decided to make a suggestion.

"Well, how about you go and relay this information to our people, and the others? I'll stay here and make up the finer details of our role in this war."

She blinked a couple of times, almost surprised that Brightness would want to deal with the whelps in front of them. They are his siblings. It makes sense that he would want to be the one here. Though, I get the feeling that he's saying this for a different reason. She smiled, kissing his cheek. "I'll let you have some time together, darling. Be sure to drill into them that, they, are not to touch our babies."

He laughed, at his mate's not so thinly veiled threat. "Don't worry, I'll make sure they know that they don't want to find out what "or else" means."

The two protective parents glared at their new allies. This stare was absolutely terrifying, inducing a heightened state of fear in a few of the dragons. So much so that they actually soiled themselves. For they were now allies with objectively far more terrifying individuals than their enemy, especially the woman they stood before now.

"Mother has good reason to be afraid of this woman. She's simply terrifying."

"I'm glad you think so, little brother in-law. Staying on my good side is easy, and safe. Getting on my bad side is easy as well but it is, well… Pretty stupid." She sighed. "Mother in-law owes me big time for helping with this predicament. She had best not pull a stunt like this again." She started to float up. "You can handle the rest of the details. Oh, dear husband… Don't give them too much, alright?"

With that, Night Silver flew off at high speed in an odd direction. One that supposedly had nothing to do with Tus Nadair. There were no cities in this direction, there weren't even any settlements, mines, or even farms of any kind. Actually, for that matter, most of the nation's farming was now done completely underground.

Farmers had quite liked the idea of the temperature controlled climate, combined with a mini temple dedicated to three large fields. Farming was back breaking work after all, so having a healer nearby that treated any and all injuries was both, literally and figurative, a godsend. Hence the reason farms on the surface weren't all that large.

As a result the dragon currently leading the expeditionary group was confused. "Brother Brightness? Why is she flying in that direction? There's nothing that way, is there?"

"Oh? I suppose she's located one of the greed kings attempting to sneak some information from us. This has been happening every so often."

"Sister is currently out of my sight now, she can really sense things from that far?"

"Indeed she can. Her range is quite impressive. Though she has yet to tell me the full range of her senses, it's clearly rather large." He chuckled. "She even knew you were fighting with one of those greed kings."

The dragons all paused for a moment. They had to let those word's sink in for a moment, and then another one.

"Brother, with her speed and a range like that, she could have come to our aid in a flash, right?"

"Oh? Now that you mention it… I suppose she could."

"Then why didn't she? With her interference none of us would have died to that immortal bastard!"

"Shut up you idiot. Why would we help someone who's so clearly holding a grudge against us? Even if we had the feeling you were coming here for an alliance, there's no way to guarantee that you'd accept our terms."

"That's no excuse-"

"Quit with the nonsense. This situation is entirely Mother's fault. She's the one that openly held hatred for my woman. Then in that hatred she summoned forth beings from another world for the sole purpose of attacking your sister in-law. To which my children suffered at the hands of these enemies. You're lucky she didn't kill you herself."

The dragons were stunned into silence. Never in a million years had their dominance been challenged so much, and so directly. There was the first group of people that were friendly, but the great mother of the dragons had declared them enemies. This was due to their hand in slaying her mate. Though, it was her mate's actions that directly caused the problem in the first place.

"Fine… Let's discuss some of the finer details."

Deciding to drop all of the other issues at hand, the 16 siblings discussed terms of their respective sides' alliance. One of the major issues at hand was how they would fight the enemy. In the end it was decided that the dragons would be the ones responsible for fighting the greed kings. While Tus Nadair would provide medical treatment to any dragons that arrived in Tus Nadair. In other words, Tus Nadair would remain a safe zone, under the complete and total protection of Night Silver. The reasons for this arrangement were clear to most of the individuals, however, that didn't mean it felt right. So a few dragons protested for a little bit more from their big brother.

"Brother, please. These enemies are something else. We can't win an extended fight against them on our own. There has to be something else."

Brightness was already teetering on the edge of anger after all the nonsense these weaklings for siblings were spewing. I swear, if we could… Oh ho, I'll ask her about that. Anyways, I ought to act like this is a pain. "Seriously? We weren't going to even bother lending you fools a hand. And now you're asking for more than a guaranteed safe haven, and healing."

"Brother, please, you've fought them before, surely you know how ridiculous they are. Can't we get something else as well?"

He scratched his head, annoyed. "This will be the last thing you get, understand. We can provide you with enough food to keep you from growing hungry." He clicked his tongue. "And if she's in a good mood, you might be able to squeeze out some degree of tactical strategy from her."

"That'll have to do. A shame we couldn't get her to handle a few of them at the very least. It's a deal."
