At night, Michael noticed the sky of the distorted realm was crimson with a red moon. Even the day time was crimson and the sun couldn't not be seen through the red clouds.
{Beast soul type: Poison}
{Blood draw}
Michael summoned the beast soul to see what it looks like and a single drop of blood came out from the system.
The drop of blood levitated in the air in front of him without doing anything. "Is that it, is this the poison?" He scratched his head in confusion. "But what can it do?" He had and idea and summoned one of his night howling dagger and let the single drop of blood fall on it.
The dagger absorbed the drop of blood in an instant and turned the entire blade of the dagger red. "Then how do I test it?" It gave no sign whatsoever and he didn't know what to expect.
His gaze unconsciously wandered to his side and he saw little White lounging. The thought of using little White as a test occurred and a small smile appeared on his face.
But when little white saw the small smile, he stopped relaxing and instead shuddered. The way Michael was looking at him was creepy and it knew that if it wasn't careful, Michael would use it to do whatever was in his mind.
'Ahh forget it. I'll find another test monkey'. Seeing little White awake and aware, he knew he couldn't conduct his test in peace so he decided to leave the little rabbit alone for now and they went out to find food.
The distorted realm was very strange. At night you could see the stars, but they looked closer and the sky was crimson. Even the moon was red, while in the daytime everywhere was still crimson but the sun couldn't be seen and everywhere gave off a stench of boiling blood.
Finding food inside the realm where everything has mutated into something else after the failure of ascension was going to be very tough. Especially for little White.
The rabbit mostly ate fruits and vegetables and none of that Michael had seen so far. At least getting food like edible meat might not be so hard but getting edible fruits or vegetables might not be possible.
As Michael roasted a small rodent to caught over a fire. He saw little White gripping his shirt and gesturing to him that it was hungry.
"Sorry buddy but there are no veggies or fruits you can eat here. None of those stuff grow here, but you are welcome to munch on this with me then of course you'll be turning to a carnivore." Michael laughed and held the roasted rabbit in his hand and tried to pass to little white, but it ignored him and turned away which made Michael laugh even harder.
Later in the night, they heard the constant fights that took place in the blood forest they were in and witnessed a lot of blood shed from different animals which made Michael realize how weak he was and made the rabbit shiver in fear.
He could tell that at least each of the creatures here were at the fallen rank but he did not know first hand how strong fallen ranked creatures were.
Up till now he had only seen and witnessed the might of three ranks; Mutated, Primitive and Fallen.
From what he could see, fallen was higher than mutated while primitive was the last. If the beast soul he had gotten from killing the Giant Bony Spiked Tigress was a weapon, maybe he could hold his own against some weaker fallen creatures.
But he didn't and all he had was mutated armor but it protected him a big deal from both the normal primitive wolves and their king.
He tried to ask the system about the various ranks of creatures they were. 'System, what are the ranks of creatures'.
{Information is locked due to unknown reasons. Access denied}
'Locked for unknown reasons. Just what would it take to give me the information? It's not like I am breaking any rules or anything or the universe will crumble if you did'. He cursed several times too but the system remained quiet and didn't even bother answering him.
Sometimes it made him feel like the system was a person with the way it kept ignoring and dishing out information nonchalantly. Even when it was playing announcements, it always ended up as bad thing in his ears.
However, although he suspected something he couldn't really say anything after all his system was stranger than the norms and he doubted others even got a system from the upper realms which was supposed to be both higher than A ranks and S ranks.
The way the system even spoke to him the first time even sounded humanly instead of being robotic and that added to his suspicions.
But he decided to forget about that for now and instead focus on more useful things like getting out of the distorted realm.
So far he had gotten no ideas on how he could get out but he had made several theories and hypothesis but they were all baseless and stemmed from some basic human knowledge he knew, but such knowledge had almost no use here and now.
The planet had gone through a tremendous change and nothing could be predicted anymore. Human technological advancements had skyrocketed but not by much because of the war between humans and beasts.
'If I am correct, the spatial gap we fell in must have been a tunnel between the two dimensions. But unless if the spatial gap is always there or dimensions are constantly moving, I don't see any other reason why a spatial gap should suddenly open. But the system said that the distorted realm is a universe that fell to ascend, why is in same plane of existence as ours. Something is not right, and yet the system does not care to explain to me'. Michael scratched his head when he reached a dead end.
When he got lost in the jungle for five years, his main companions had mostly been loneliness and he survived by thinking a lot to keep himself busy and his mind always running.
Despite being alone surrounded by constant danger for years, it had enhanced his way of thinking and now he thought farther and in long term.
Although he knew how to taunt and upset creatures that were stronger than him, he would never ever go near the truly dangerous ones but kept to the ones he could predict and, hence, have a certain control over them.
The only downside to his isolation was that he had been gone for far too long and had missed several events that held significance to humans. He let out a small sigh and shook his head in regret.
'I have truly missed a lot'
