Chapter 240 - Chapter 144.2 : Pluton!!

From the original story, D doesn't seem to be a bloodline but rather a spiritual inheritance.

Sabo was once surprised that both Ace and Luffy had a D in their names, and Ace even asked if he wanted one too.

In the original, Cobra, before his death, also said that he finally understood the path Alabasta should take, and that both he and Vivi were D.

So, that's probably what it means?

By that logic, I could be a D too. I could rename myself Ian D. Ra.

Perhaps D doesn't truly exist at all, or maybe anyone can be a D.

"The enemy of the gods, huh?"

Law murmured to himself.

Sounds… pretty good.

"The enemy of the Celestial Dragons?"

Cobra, on the other hand, was completely stunned.

The Celestial Dragons are the gods of this world.

His heart suddenly began pounding.

Their family was originally meant to become Celestial Dragons, yet they were actually their enemies?

This revelation was too shocking.

"A wasted trip."

Ian shook his head and casually handed the letter back to Cobra.

A letter he deemed meaningless.

It said nothing of value.

Cobra took the letter with some hesitation. He carefully accepted it, sneaked a glance at Ian, and finally couldn't hold back from asking, "Mr. Ian, what did Queen Lily mean when she said that the world is waiting for Alabasta's answer?"

Ian raised an eyebrow with interest. "Are you asking me?"

Cobra instantly broke out in a cold sweat.

Right—wasn't it strange for a king of a World government-affiliated nation to be asking such a rare and infamous pirate?

"Hah."

Ian chuckled. "Didn't the letter say it? One day, someone who bears everything will appear and reignite that unfinished war!"

Roger had said that the will passed down through generations, the tides of the era, and people's dreams would never cease as long as humanity sought the answer to freedom.

Even if not in this era, then in the next, or the one after that—one day, someone would stand up and bear everything.

Cobra's body trembled.

The war from eight hundred years ago… was it still continuing to this day?

"A war that has lasted eight hundred years?"

Law smirked. "Betting the entire world on it… now that's something to get fired up about."

"Then, who will be the one to bear it all?"

Jack burst into laughter.

"Of course, it's us!"

Yamato laughed heartily. "Who else could it be?"

Ian also smiled.

The one who wins this war will be the new Joy Boy—who else could be the Sun God?

"Let's go, Cobra."

Ian said, "Take me to see the Poneglyph that Lily sent back."

Cobra trembled again.

How do you even know about that?

Even I didn't know that stone was sent back by Queen Lily!

He glanced deeply at Ian again. "Please follow me."

Cobra led Ian and the others out of the palace through the back door and brought them to the Nefertari family's cemetery. There, he opened a secret passage and led everyone into the underground palace.

It seemed that no one had entered in a long time, as the air inside was stuffy. There were no lights, and Cobra had to light one lantern after another along the way.

Only when they reached the deepest part of the underground palace did a large stone come into view before them.

"This is the historical text!"

Drake couldn't help but exclaim as he looked up at the massive stone.

Though he had heard of it, seeing it with his own eyes was a first.

So huge!

It was said that merely studying this kind of stone would bring ruthless retaliation from the World Government.

"Nobody knows what's recorded on it."

Cobra said cautiously. "It's written in an unfamiliar script."

"It just records the location of something."

Ian remarked as he looked at the text.

"Huh?"

Law was surprised. "Ian, can you read ancient script?"

"A little."

Ian nodded subtly.

The knowledge of ancient script that Ian had learned from Kozuki Sukiyaki all those years ago had stayed with him.

He wouldn't boast, but his proficiency in ancient script was at least at level six.

There's no mistake. A complete sentence!

"Tsk."

After reading the contents on the stone, Ian clicked his tongue.

"What's wrong?"

Yamato asked curiously.

"Somewhat disappointed."

Ian shook his head.

He had already known that the Pluton weapon was in Wano Country.

But he didn't know the exact location.

He guessed it might be somewhere deep under the inland sea of Wano or possibly in an underground space.

That's why he came to check if this stone had any detailed records about the location.

The good news was that the stone indeed recorded the exact burial site of Pluto.

But there were two bad pieces of news.

One of them was that Pluto couldn't be retrieved until Wano officially became a nation.

This wasn't too difficult to accept because, in the end, the so-called establishment of Wano's nation was simply about breaking down the high walls surrounding the country. Even without relying on the elephant Zunesha, it wouldn't be hard to accomplish.

But the second bad news was that, damn it, Pluto also needed to replenish its energy!

Wasn't this just like that weapon in the hands of the Celestial Dragons?

Did they have to rely on Vegapunk to develop the Mother Flame?

But that would be years from now.

Or rather...

Ian squinted.

It really was time to get the blueprint for Pluto.

The blueprint surely wouldn't be without an energy module, right?

Cobra watched Ian's changing expressions and couldn't help but feel a little scared.

Was he not satisfied?

But Ian replied, "Let's go, it's time to head back."

"Is it done?"

Law asked.

Ian gently nodded, "In any case, we've made some progress."

At least now they knew where Pluto was buried.

Cobra sighed with relief. Was it finally over?

Thankfully, thankfully, it hadn't caused any huge casualties.

Just as he was about to leave, Ian suddenly remembered something. He turned around and said to Cobra, "I've caused you so much trouble, so let me help you with something in return."

Before Cobra could figure out what was happening, he saw Ian's body suddenly engulfed in flames.

He had turned into a fiery figure! A bright red fiery figure!

But strangely, there was no intense heat radiating from him.

Ian reached out his hand toward the massive historical text.

This is something that the fewer people who know about it, the better, right?
