Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

It's the day of their shared class, and it's the first attempt after an overnight calculation on how to pursue Aven. The class only once a week. So, during the whole week, Chaz tries his best to practice what he has been searching for in his mind.

Like before, he goes straight after the class to the main building where their class is. He sees Aven standing in front of the lift. The same situation happened, and he was relieved that it was. Last time, when he searched through the Internet, he found out that casual touch or accidental touch can lead to the person feeling something toward the other.

He though by this frequent stuck between each other embrace can help Aven realize that he likes him. Well, that's what the internet says, and he likely thinks so.

Aven was still stuck to Chaz like before, given the situation other might feel it as a fluttering moment, like how it is to Chaz at that very moment. Chaz's heart is beating so fast that make him even more excited. The feeling that he rarely gets makes him very ecstatic. It's the feeling he longed for the whole week he did not meet Aven.

Unlike Chaz, Aven, however, does not feel any flutter but instead feels suffocated, as shown by the obvious struggles on his face. That moment, which he didn't expect to encounter again, happened to him repeatedly the past two weeks. He feels so uncomfortable being stuck in that pack lift.

Like before, the moment they arrived at their floor, Chaz pulled Aven out of the lift. Aven is forever thankful for Chaz's kind action. If it were him alone, he might not be able to even get out of it. He thanks his senior politely before they both walk towards the class.

Then, before entering the class, Chaz let Aven go first, and later he got in and sat beside Aven. This time, he learned the lesson from the past. He was indifferent when he took the seat beside Aven, yet his inside already on cloud nine.

Aven was quite surprised that Chaz sat beside him since he always thought Chaz was someone that love to be alone more than him. This whole situation feels awkward to him. They do have some conversation, but to Aven, it's not deep enough for them to be comfortable with each other.

During the class, Chaz tried to 'accidentally' bump his hand against Aven to fulfill the 'casual touching' plan he had made. But Aven's hand is not even on the table. Instead of writing on the table, Aven actually holds his tablet in one hand and writes with the other.

This made Chaz fail to conduct his plan. He was so taken aback by Aven's way of taking notes. It makes his mind go into frenzy, thinking that his approach must have been caught by Aven. 'Does he know and do not want to respond to my pursuit?'

At the end, the lift situation is the only 'casual touch' that they had, as after that, in the rest of class, Aven only briefly put down his tablet, but still did not put his hand on the table. Then continued to pick up the tablet again after some important points came from the lecture. Chaz is just too stunned to even continue his plan. The step cannot even be continued as Aven is just that focused on class, same with himself.

Furthermore, right after the class. Like any other time, Aven directly excused himself and left. Chaz already guessed that he might not even be able to persuade Aven to stay longer, so he just let him go.

....

The next day, their scheduled club training. This time, Chaz was set to try his other plans. Which tried to find Aven's hobbies and things he liked. But as the week goes on, Chaz sees that Aven passionately pours his energy into football. Naturally, he thinks that Aven's passion and love must be for football.

The training goes as usual: warm-up, training, and a brief match. Then it ended after two hours. Seeing that Aven is resting before going back, Chaz instinctively approaches Aven.

"Which team do you support?" asked Chaz without even asking how Aven is.

Aven is puzzled by that sudden question. He looked at Chaz blankly, full of confusion. "What team, senior?"

"Football team, which one do you support?" Chaz replies.

Aven caught on to it and then only smiled and shook his head. "Haha, none. I don't watch football".

That shocked, Chaz. Never has he met someone who plays football but does not support or watch football games. He feels as if he is being slapped. 'Then why does he practice so hard and even want to participate in the upcoming tournament?'

Seeing that Chaz was only staring at him, Aven found it funny. He thought that his answer must be shocking to Chaz. "Am I weird, senior?"

Chaz shook his head lightly. Aven then smiled brightly alongside a soft chuckle, which made Chaz forget the confusion he had just now.

Aven later looked at the time on his phone. He looks at Chaz, who is still beside him, and smiles. "I need to excuse myself, senior. There is an urgent matter that I need to tend to"

Do not want to prevent Aven from leaving, Chaz right away lets him go as he feel if he holds Aven, it will just hinder him more. Aven politely leaves and says goodbye like before.

Chaz lost his chance again to ask him out to eat. Well, he already knows that Aven will leave as soon as he can, but it's not wrong to try. He cannot do much after all, even with a plan. Aven seems to avoid every approach he tries.

He goes back to his room straight after. The whole ride home, he just feels lost as there's not much he can do. He arrived at an empty room as his roommate's presence could not be seen.

Then, he freshens himself up. He tried to cool down his head by aggressively washing his head during his bath. done, he is lying down on his bed and starts to review his whole interaction with Aven.

He feel during the three weeks, he had done as much as he could and then deduced to the fact that they were both getting closer. He removed the fact that he doubted Aven knew his true intention, as Aven still treated him the same at the field.

He feels contented seeing the good outcomes that he came up with after the review in his head. However, that feeling does not linger long as the tiredness catches up to him. He was fast asleep then.
