Claire opened her eyes to complete silence.
The air was so heavy, it made even breathing a bit difficult. She lay on her back, staring at a sky that wasn't really a sky. It was just blank.
"What the hell…" she muttered, sitting up.
Her head swam for a second, but she caught herself. That's when it hit her: she was here again.
The Nowhere.
"Fuck no," she whispered, looking around. It was the same damn place. Flat ground that stretched endlessly in every direction. No trees, no buildings, not even shadows. Just her, alone in the vast emptiness.
Except of course, there was another weird figure to torment her. Claire couldn't remember what happened to lead her back here again.
Just then, she caught movement out of the corner of her eye and froze. Slowly, she turned her head, and there she was—a woman standing a few feet away. Not the old woman this time. Not the creepy little girl. No, this one was different.
