Then, slowly, he walked over.
He didn't say anything.
Instead, he crouched down in front of her, his eyes level with hers. His hands gently reached for hers, stopping them mid-fold. "I don't want you to leave," he said softly, his voice husky. "And now you've even resigned from your secretary post. Where am I going to find someone as capable as you?"
Lilith raised an eyebrow at him, but her lips curled slightly. "Don't worry," she replied with a teasing lilt, brushing his cheek softly. "In my free time, I'll still do your work—part-time secretary. Special service."
Alexander didn't smile.
He leaned in, resting his head against her lap, arms wrapping around her waist as he sat on his knees in front of her.
"That's not what I meant," he whispered. "My whole day will feel off… if I don't see your pretty face first thing in the morning."
