Envi's POV:
There was no mistake.
The foul aura—this twisted, wretched magic—was unmistakably the same as what I had felt when facing Canis... when I stood against Vaelgorath… and when I passed through that cursed dimensional gate into this world.
This could only be the work of that being.
The Outer God.
The source of every anomaly infecting this world. The enemy of gods and mortals alike. The root of corruption.
"You... damn harbinger of misery!" I shouted, pure fury fueling my fist as I drove it into the face of the possessed man before me, sending him crashing to the floor with a sickening thud.
But in an instant, the voice of the Outer God leapt from that body… to another. This time, a woman lunged from behind, shrieking with inhuman rage.
"Misfortune?" she hissed, gripping my throat. "I am misfortune. I am despair. I am the calamity itself."
I growled and slammed her down with a brutal counter, but it didn't end there.
