[Ralts (Psychic, Fairy)]
[Gender: Male]
[Ability: Trace (When entering battle, this Pokémon copies a random opponent's Ability.)]
[Individual Values: HP (20), Attack (31), Special Attack (11), Defense (22), Special Defense (12), Speed (23)]
[Moves: Disarming Voice, Growl, Double Team, Confusion]
"This is a male Ralts with the Ability 'Trace,' but its Individual Value for Attack is 31, so its best evolution path should be Gallade!" Chris explained while looking at the white screen.
There was much discussion among the crowd.
Chris had divided the Individual Values from 0 to 31, and this Ralts's Special Attack value was only 11, which basically meant that its talent in Special Attack was at the middle to lower level within the entire Ralts group.
And its physical Attack was 31, which was the maximum possible Attack value for Ralts—what Chris called "V."
If the Individual Values marked by Chris were correct, then this Ralts was indeed more suitable to evolve into Gallade rather than Gardevoir.
It's just that, once again, they had doubts about Chris's Individual Value system.
"Believe it or not, it's up to you whether you want Ralts to evolve into Gardevoir or Gallade. It's your choice—as long as you don't regret it." Chris spread his hands and then signaled the second Ralts to make its own choice.
Compared to the first shy Ralts, this one was much more cheerful. It walked briskly straight to a well-proportioned girl with wheat-colored skin in the third row.
It seemed that it had already decided on its Trainer before it even came on stage.
The special ability of Ralts to sense the feelings of other creatures was really useful!
"Young lady, are you willing to be its Trainer?" Chris asked the same question as before.
"I do!" The girl reached out and took Ralts's hand.
"Very good. You can take Ralts and your parents to the side to complete the payment," Chris gestured.
"Another announcement—I also sell treasure-level evolution items like Dawn Stone here!"
Chris had no need for treasure-level items now, so he took out all the rare Pokémon items from his Pokédex and sold them at the breeding house.
Treasure-level Dawn Stone—he couldn't even remember when he had picked it up on his journey.
"Thank you! I was indeed planning to evolve it into a Gallade!" The girl stood up with Ralts and left, accompanied by a woman who appeared to be her mother.
It seemed that not everyone wanted to evolve their Ralts into Gardevoir.
"Okay, let's move on to the third Ralts!" Chris announced, gesturing once more.
The information on the screen changed to show a Ralts with only Speed at V...
Fifteen minutes later, the remaining eight Ralts had all been sold in the same manner.
The process moved quickly because, like the second Ralts, all the remaining Ralts had already chosen their future Trainers before it was their turn to be presented.
Every Ralts sold had at least one stat at V, specially selected by Chris. His breeding house was positioned as an elite establishment. Therefore, he wouldn't sell Ralts without at least one V stat—he would instead raise them in the pasture or let Professor Birch take care of them.
These eight Ralts didn't necessarily have Special Attack or Attack at V; some had HP, Special Defense, Defense, or Speed at V instead.
They hadn't been rejected, but whether they would eventually evolve into Gardevoir or Gallade, Chris had no way of knowing.
He repeated the same phrase: as long as their Trainers wouldn't regret it.
Perhaps some Trainers preferred fencing Pokémon.
All ten 1V Ralts were sold, bringing in a total of 300 million Pokédollars. After taxes, the actual amount would be more than 250 million.
Chris could earn 600 million a month through Berry trees, so selling these 10 Ralts for 250 million wasn't a huge amount in comparison.
But... if you had to catch ten 1V Ralts by yourself, it might take less than a day if you were lucky, especially with a Venusaur using Sweet Scent—maybe just half a day.
250 million in half a day...
That would be 500 million in one day! 15 billion in one month! In half a year, he would become a billionaire!
However... if they were sold at that price consistently, Ralts would definitely decrease in value!
Rare things were expensive!
He hadn't even started selling them slowly yet.
Besides, if ten 1V Ralts could sell for 300 million, what about ten 2V Ralts or ten 3V Ralts?
This was just the beginning!
Chris smiled like the profiteer he was.
"Okay, all ten 1V Ralts have been sold this time. Thank you all for coming," Chris said with a slight bow to the crowd.
"Customers who didn't get to buy one shouldn't be discouraged. Starting from this month, at the beginning and middle of each month, Chris's Breeding House will have 10 Ralts for sale in the same way."
"So, on the 1st of next month, there will be another ten Ralts available—and at that time, there will be a 3V Ralts on display!"
The Trainers who had been disappointed suddenly became hopeful again.
Ten more Ralts on the 1st of next month! That was only ten days away!
And one of them would be a 3V Ralts!
Perhaps missing out on the 1V Ralts was a blessing in disguise!
They might have missed the 1V Ralts, but maybe the 3V Ralts would choose them.
Individual Values were such a concept that, despite Chris's claims, they would rather believe in their existence than their non-existence. At least, that's what they were buying here at Chris's breeding house.
"However, the price of a 3V Ralts will not be just 30 million—I hope everyone can bring enough money when you return!" Chris reminded them before turning and stepping down from the stage.
The rich Trainers didn't object to the price increase.
If Individual Values were really as Chris described, then Ralts born with three stats at the maximum level would naturally be more expensive than those with just one maximized stat!
If they weren't expensive, people would think that Chris's Individual Value system was just an empty boast.
