Subterranean Level 13 – Mutagenium Core Lab
Inside the grimy underground lab that looked like it hadn't seen a cleaning bot in over a decade, a strange purple-skinned man stood hunched over a reinforced workstation. His wild gray hair fanned out like a madman's halo, and his thick goggles reflected the toxic red glow coming from a metal box he'd just opened.
This was Dr. Xercovium, resident genius, mutagenic terrorist, and unapologetic bastard.
He adjusted his hazmat suit with a raspy wheeze.
"In its natural form, Mutagenium is always a bright red crystal… saturated with Omega-grade radiation. Lethal, of course, to anyone whose Force-Gene hasn't awakened."
His voice had the kind of old, slimy crackle that made people uncomfortable.
Behind him, Cain and Jane silently moved heavy crates with robotic synchronicity. The metal clanked and echoed as they packed row after row of shimmering containment capsules into carbon-sealed crates.
