Pryce was down two Pokémon, gripped his cane with steely resolve. Everyone had thought that Gladion would be the one in the backfoot but It was Pryce who has not managed to do much against Gladion and his Electrivire. But that was going to change now.
His third Poké Ball flashed as he released his Weavile. The Dark-Ice Pokémon materialized, its crimson claws glinting, a smirk curling its lips as it eyed Zeus, Gladion's battered Electivire. The electric terrain shocking him a little.
Pryce's voice cut through the chill. "Weavile, Ice Shard!"
Weavile's claws gleamed, hurling razor-sharp ice spears at Zeus. Gladion reacted fast. "Zeus, Thunder—blast 'em!"
Zeus roared, summoning a bolt of lightning despite Memento's debuff sapping his strength. The Thunder crackled, shattering the spears mid-air into harmless frost, the raw power still blazing even with Aurora Veil and Memento dulling its edge.
[Eat that, claw-face!] Zeus crowed, tails sparking but distracted at the brilliance of his lightning.
Pryce seized the opening, his tone icy. "Hone Claws! And then begin your assault"
Weavile's claws scraped together, sharpening with a sinister glow—Attack and Accuracy spiking as the snow swirled around it.
Then, with speed eclipsing even Glaceon's, it launched its assault. Fury Swipes raked Zeus from one side, a blur of claws, then Scratch struck from another angle, relentless and precise. Zeus stumbled, unable to track weavile. It was too fast for him.
Gladion's patience snapped as he saw "Enough—Zeus, Discharge!"
Zeus unleashed a burst of lightning, electricity exploding outward in a close-range storm in all directions.
Sparks danced, but Weavile darted through, Snowscape's Defense boost and Aurora Veil's shield reducing the onslaught to a mere tickle. Zeus's once-mighty power, neutered by Memento, couldn't dent the agile predator.
Pryce smirked, sensing victory. "Night Slash!"
Weavile's claws flared with dark energy, slicing through Zeus in a brutal arc. The Electivire staggered, sparks fading, and crumpled to the ground covered with snow from snowscape with a groan.
[Damn… sneaky weasel…] he muttered, out cold.
The referee's flag rose. "Electivire is unable to battle! Pryce narrows the gap—two to one!"
The crowd gasped, then cheered, a mix of "Pryce is back!" and "Zeus fought hard!" The announcer's voice boomed, "Weavile cuts down Electivire with Night Slash! Pryce turns the tide—Gladion's first loss stings!"
Pryce's thoughts swelled with arrogance as he watched Zeus recalled.
'Finally—one down.' With Snowscape fortifying Weavile, Aurora Veil halving damage, and Memento crippling Gladion's offense, he felt the scales tipping.
'This brat's team relies on brute force—strip that away, and he's nothing. I've got the upper hand now; the rest'll fall like dominoes.' His confidence surged—he'd weathered Gladion's storm and struck back.
He glared at Gladion, voice dripping with disdain. "You're done, brat. Too young to challenge me—thought you could waltz in and put shame to my title? You should have challenged one of the elite fours. This match'll be over in minutes." He leaned on his cane, lecturing with a sneer. "You're an arrogant fool, just like your grandfather—Maren, that stubborn idiot. Refused to surrender in the war, even when Johto had Kanto beat. Kanto's pride blinded him—dragged his men through muck for nothing. You Vortex lot are all the same—loudmouths with no sense. "
Gladion's fists clenched, his smirk vanishing as fury blazed in his eyes. Pryce's words stabbed deep, igniting a fire that roared through him.
He stepped forward, voice trembling with passion and rage, cutting through the stadium's hum. "You dare talk about Grandpa Maren like that? You senile old relic—you've got no idea what he stood for! He wasn't just some stubborn fool—he inspired men, lifted them when hope was ash! He fought for something bigger than himself, and yeah, he inspired me and Gwen too—pushed us to be more than we thought we could! You? You're a weak Champion—not your Pokémon, they're strong as hell—but you. Your mindset's frail, brittle like your ice! You're weaker than Lance, Agatha, any of 'em—grown old and soft, clinging to a title you don't deserve! Grandpa wouldn't stand for a coward like you leading Kanto—I'm here to prove it!"
His words echoed, raw and emotional, the crowd falling silent, some Kanto folks tearing up at the invocation of Maren Vortex—a war hero, a legend whose tales still stirred hearts.
Gladion's chest heaved, his anger a living thing, but his resolve shone brighter. He turned to the five Poké Balls on his belt, his voice softening but firm. "Sorry, team—looks like I've gotta teach this geezer a lesson myself. Y'all won't debut today—I need the big guns."
The balls hummed faintly, a chorus of muffled agreement—his Pokémon trusted him, their spirits aligned. Gladion's hand drifted to the chain around his neck, three Poké Balls dangling there, each special, each a bond forged in years of trials.
His fingers brushed the center one—the most precious—and he grinned, fierce and wild. "Let's go, Colossus—time for your debut!"
The Poké Ball burst open, and the stadium quaked as Tyranitar—Colossus—emerged with a roar that rattled bones. This wasn't just any Tyranitar—this was a behemoth, an alpha-gene titan towering over its kind, a Colossus among Tyranitars.
Its hide gleamed like obsidian, scars tracing its massive frame, muscles rippling with primal might. Bigger than any recorded specimen, its sheer presence warped the air, waves of pressure rolling off it like a storm front. The snow trembled and even Weavile shrank back, claws twitching.
Colossus's green eyes blazed with fury, locked on Pryce. Gladion felt his partner's thoughts—'That old fool insulted Maren, the man who brought us together.'
Colossus seethed, ready to crush Pryce's arrogance underfoot.
The announcer's voice exploded, passion igniting every word, sending goosebumps rippling through the crowd. "And here it is, folks—a Tyranitar unlike any other! You must have seen about him in the news. Gladion Vortex unleashes Colossus—a titan of Rock and Dark, a living legend stepping into the spotlight! This isn't just a Pokémon—it's a force of nature, a mountain of fury with alpha blood in its veins! Feel that pressure, that roar—it's shaking the stadium to its core! Pryce faces a monster now—Gladion's pulling no punches!"
The crowd surged to its feet, a deafening roar—"Colossus!" "Gladion's unstoppable!"—banners waving as kids clung to parents, awestruck.
Pryce's scowl faltered, his cane trembling faintly as Colossus loomed. Gladion's smirk returned, cold and defiant.
