"Did you choke on your food?"
Ruo Li started conversing with Jerry in English. She didn't have a good first impression of him, influenced by America's culture. He always appeared laid-back, just like the hippies in movies.
"No, not at all."
Jerry, seeing that Ruo Li's English was quite good, was overjoyed. He could finally communicate with Jiang Xiaobai. Ding Haijian was busy grilling and had no time to help translate. He hadn't known that Ruo Li could speak English.
"Can you be my translator?"
"I cannot," Ruo Li rejected him without a second thought.
"Why?" Jerry was very frustrated. During his days in China, every person he met on the streets was willing to help him, especially the women—none could resist his handsome appearance.
"There's no reason. I just don't want to help you," Ruo Li didn't give Jerry any face.
"What are you guys talking about?" Jiang Xiaobai asked.
Ruo Li said, "This blond kid wanted me to be his translator, but I refused."
