Chapter 385: Sky Island
"Phew! That wiped me out!"
Caesar fell from the sky onto the deck, lying flat on his back and gasping for breath.
"Well done!"
Esdeath walked over and looked at Caesar, who was sprawled across the deck.
Caesar quickly stood up, scratched his head, and looked around at the sea of white clouds.
"So this is Sky Island? It's really made of clouds?!"
Caesar was amazed.
It was the first time he had seen such a sight. In fact, nearly everyone was seeing this for the first time.
"We're… sailing on a sea of clouds?"
Robert, Deidara, and the others leaned over the ship's rail, staring at the clouds and the strange creatures swimming through them as if they were in the ocean.
Sharlo lifted his head, scanning the area.
He released his Observation Haki, enveloping the surroundings—and quickly detected a nearby island.
"Set course for the south," he said to the helmsman.
"Yes, Captain!"
The ship adjusted direction and headed toward the indicated island.
—
On Sky Island...
"Lord God! Another pirate ship from the Blue Sea has arrived!"
The Sky Island God's Guard had already spotted the giant ship sailing through the White Sea.
Hearing this report, Gan Fall furrowed his brows.
"Another group from the Blue Sea? Things are lively these days… I just hope they don't come with ill intent."
Gan Fall sighed and stood up.
"Pierre!"
He called, and a pegasus with wings flew over.
Gan Fall mounted it and flew toward the White Sea.
—
Back on Sharlo's ship, they had reached the island.
"So this is Sky Island?"
A crowd of kids leaned over the edge, marveling at the towering city built atop clouds.
"The air's so thin… I can hardly breathe…"
Several of the younger kids, like Klein, clutched their chests, faces flushed.
"It's to be expected. We're ten thousand meters above sea level. The air here is extremely thin. Don't worry—you'll adjust soon."
Sharlo emerged from below deck with his wives, looking over the children.
"Dad! Mom!"
The kids rushed over when they saw their parents.
Illyana looked at the flushed children and waved her hand.
A large bubble surrounded their heads—instantly providing plentiful oxygen.
The kids eagerly sucked in the air.
Sharlo raised an eyebrow at Illyana.
She gave a small smile. "Oxygen bubble. Just a minor trick."
Sharlo chuckled and turned toward the sky.
He had already locked onto the figure of a flying person atop a bird-like, horse-like creature.
He knew who it was—
The self-proclaimed God of Sky Island. What was his name again? Sharlo couldn't remember.
The rest of the crew looked skyward too.
A man with wings riding a flying steed descended.
"Is that… an angel?"
Someone murmured, stunned by the scene that looked like something out of myth.
"No, no! We're not angels! We're citizens of Sky Island. These wings don't actually allow us to fly!"
Gan Fall landed above the ship and quickly clarified.
SWISH!
The sound of a sword rang out.
A slash of sword energy flew past Gan Fall's forehead, dangerously close.
He broke into a cold sweat.
Pierre wobbled in the air, flapping nervously.
All eyes turned to the girl who had drawn her sword—
Esdeath.
"I don't like talking to people from below."
She said coldly.
Gan Fall immediately understood and landed on the deck.
Sharlo glanced at his eldest daughter and smiled.
"Greetings! I am Gan Fall, God of Sky Island and ruler of this land. You may call me Gan Fall."
Gan Fall wisely addressed Sharlo, whom everyone had instinctively formed a circle around.
"'God'? Haven't heard that in a while… The last guy who called himself that has been dead for over a decade."
Sharlo's voice was casual—but dripping with killing intent.
Gan Fall's forehead beaded with sweat.
"Please, don't misunderstand! 'God' is just a title here—no different from how you might call a leader a king!"
He rushed to explain.
Sharlo shrugged.
"We plan to walk around Sky Island. You gonna stop us?"
At those words, everyone from the Rockefeller Pirates tightened their grips on their weapons.
If Gan Fall said no, they would paint the clouds red.
"Of course not! We welcome all Blue Sea visitors to Sky Island!"
Gan Fall wiped his forehead.
He'd be mad to say otherwise.
That girl's earlier sword strike was enough to confirm it—there was no one on Sky Island strong enough to oppose them.
Sharlo smiled and turned to his crew.
"Alright, everyone—disembark! Explore, relax, and enjoy yourselves. We'll be staying here for a while."
A cheer erupted across the deck.
"Long live the captain!"
"Long live Dad!"
The tense mood—caused by the Knock-Up Stream and thin air—finally broke.
That pressure was what made Esdeath so easily irritable earlier.
Gan Fall looked nervously at the thousand-plus pirates flooding off the ship, fearing they would destroy the island.
Sharlo turned back to him with a smile.
"By the way, Lord God, I'd like to know where the Roger Pirates went after arriving on Sky Island. I'd like to see it for myself."
Gan Fall hesitated under that smile.
"N-No problem! The Roger Pirates stayed here for two days, then set off toward Shandora!"
He pointed in the direction.
Sharlo looked—though all he could see was a mass of clouds.
But that was enough.
The City of Gold was likely real.
"Thank you. One more thing—how do I get to Birka?"
"Birka? Ah yes, I recall there's an island named that to the south of Sky Island. But few ever go there."
Gan Fall scratched his head.
"South, huh…"
Sharlo nodded and looked that way.
"Thanks. Don't worry—my crew won't disturb the peace."
Gan Fall had answered everything honestly, so Sharlo didn't mind showing some goodwill in return.
"Thank you, merciful strong one."
Gan Fall bowed deeply.
Sharlo waved it off.
"Alright, let's go enjoy the culture and sights of Sky Island!"
With that, he jumped off the ship first.
"Dad! Can we have some pocket money?"
Klein and a few of the younger kids jumped down too, eyes sparkling as they begged for allowance.
