Shen Jinci was unaware of Bian Yue's fluttering heart.
At night, he was tending to her wound, his expression one of pain and sympathy.
"It might hurt a bit, just bear with it," Shen Jinci's voice was husky as he spoke, simultaneously unwinding the bandage wrapped around Bian Yue's shoulder.
The bandage was stained with blood. Shen Jinci was accustomed to seeing blood, yet at that moment, he felt dizzy.
His hand, holding the bandage, was slightly trembling, and his complexion turned pale.
It was almost comical; he looked more like the injured party.
Bian Yue looked at him with concern and whispered, "Shen Jinci, are you okay?"
"Does it hurt?" The man restrained his emotions as he asked gently.
Bian Yue said it didn't hurt, paused, and explained, "It wasn't Xie Zhang who deliberately hurt me, I stepped in the way myself."
"I know."
If it weren't so, how could Shen Jinci ever let Xie Zhang off the hook?
