Chapter 73 - Chapter 73 – Into the No-Man’s Zone

Under normal circumstances, if there were this many blind boxes ahead, they would've long been snatched up by passersby.

Seeing so many now, Su Chen was undeniably excited, but he remained highly alert.

What stood before him was a sealed-off factory, with a large gate at the front.

It was a choice: he could go in, or he could turn back.

But what lay inside… was danger beyond imagination.

Su Chen didn't dare charge in recklessly. He parked the vehicle right in front of the gate and examined the contents on the display screen carefully. The environment inside looked old and run-down, clearly abandoned for many years.

His drone was cloaked, allowing it to scout the interior clearly.

If there were any large monsters inside, he'd have to seriously reconsider going in.

The ground was covered in unknown substances—green powder, white granules, and pale yellow liquids.

From initial observation, it looked like an abandoned chemical plant. It hadn't been maintained for ages; the dust had accumulated thickly.

For such a wide area to be completely devoid of people… it gave off an unsettling feeling.

Then it made sense—dead bodies disappeared in this world, so there was no way to confirm if anyone had ever entered.

Even if someone died inside, no one would ever know. That was what made this place truly terrifying.

With danger lurking beyond comprehension, the safest option was to leave. Entering would be a gamble.

Still, Su Chen stared at the display showing over a dozen blind boxes, and he couldn't help but feel a surge of joy.

He was tempted to go in and check them out.

After all, these blind boxes dropped randomly—they weren't something you could find every day.

And clearly, things weren't so simple inside. That much was obvious.

Su Chen put on his Super Knight gear once again, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and made sure his gun was ready. He had to stay focused this time.

This was no place to let his guard down—success or failure could hinge on this single moment.

He slowly opened the gate, and a cold gust of wind immediately rushed out, carrying a sharp, acrid smell.

Rust coated the hinges, making the door hard to open.

His first step inside crunched like smashing glass underfoot.

Startled, Su Chen looked down—was that… a thermometer?

That confirmed his suspicion—this was indeed an abandoned chemical factory.

There was no sign of anyone inside. It was truly a no-man's zone.

Not that it mattered much. It was natural for a chemical plant to have some leftover items.

Most likely, this factory had been shut down due to environmental pollution issues—the stench in the air was unbearable.

But that didn't stop him. Su Chen quickened his pace. Victory was within reach.

Earlier, he'd eaten some meat to replenish his protein. Now, he was full of energy.

It wasn't long before he spotted his first blind box.

A promising start!

Rip it open!

[Item Acquired: 1 Camping Tent]

Nice!

Su Chen immediately stashed the tent into his backpack.

Ever since he got this backpack, his efficiency had skyrocketed.

No more worrying about carrying too many items back and forth.

From the drone's feed earlier, he knew the blind boxes in this area were continuously spawning.

The wind had turned bitter cold, even worse than before.

Su Chen could see his own breath. Despite wearing a thick jacket, he still felt the chill seeping in.

In the second round, not only had the number of monsters increased, but the weather had turned more brutal.

Survivors could hide from monsters, but not from the weather.

In fact, the weather might just be the real boss of this round.

Unless one gave up some gear and headed to a desert zone with fewer supplies and intense heat…

That could be a valid choice. After all, some people feared cold more than heat.

So far, it had been endless grasslands and forests. This was Su Chen's first time encountering a man-made structure.

Even if it was just an abandoned chemical factory.

There was one major advantage—it had no monsters.

No survivors dared enter, and even the monsters seemed to avoid it.

With so many easy targets outside, why would they bother lurking here, wasting time on the off chance someone walked in?

After some solid looting, Su Chen had collected four or five blind boxes, all stuffed into his pack.

This felt like a pretty good setup. If he could completely clear out this factory, then in the future, he could use his drone to scout similarly dangerous and remote areas and just drive straight there.

Now that he had the means, danger wasn't much of a concern.

As long as it wasn't some savage, ferocious beast, Su Chen was confident he could handle it.

Nothing to worry about at all.

It was like picking up free money. Blind boxes were scattered everywhere—today, he might just achieve true blind box freedom.

With no other survivors around, Su Chen was letting loose.

Every box must go! Not a single one left behind, no matter how small!

In just a matter of ten or fifteen minutes, he'd cleared all the blind boxes previously detected by the drone.

This level of efficiency… other survivors might not match it even after months of effort.

Actually, while scavenging, he could occasionally hear beasts roaring in the distance.

Su Chen was a little shaken—sweat trickled from his temples.

He was already halfway through. He couldn't just turn back now, empty-handed.

He wasn't the type to give up halfway.

He braced himself and pushed forward.

And it turned out to be the right call.

When a person is under pressure, their adrenal glands can kick into overdrive, unlocking their peak potential.

Time was running short. After working so hard, it was finally time for the most exciting part—opening the blind boxes.

Once he had his loot, it was time to leave. No point sticking around.

Su Chen had already mapped the layout—it was a sealed factory compound.

Spanning hundreds of acres, there was only one way in or out.

He now felt a tightness in his throat—something phlegmy stuck deep down.

"Hah-teh!"

He spat it onto the ground. It flew a meter away.

Su Chen had a habit of always smearing out his phlegm with his foot.

But as he stepped forward, he noticed the yellow powder on the ground revealing traces of blood.

As expected, it was likely some kind of luminescent ammonia.

It could expose bloodstains that had been wiped clean. Clearly, someone had been here before…

And met an unfortunate end.

This place had always been oppressive, but now the air felt even heavier. One never knew when disaster might strike here.

Even Su Chen, armed to the teeth, didn't feel safe—let alone other survivors.

He had gear far superior to most—by hundreds of times, even.

Su Chen quickly made his way toward the main gate.

There weren't any visible monsters here, but the fact that someone had died likely meant there was something strange nearby.

He had only one thought now: get out.

His backpack was loaded with over a dozen blind boxes. He was now officially living the dream of blind box freedom.

No way he was going to die here.

The sky was beginning to darken—it was time to head back to the RV.

Overtime? Never happening. Not in this lifetime.

Besides, opening blind boxes in the RV was perfectly fine.
