Ash! Now!
Facing the storm of electricity surging through the battlefield and Lt. Surge's Raichu charging at them, Satoshi didn't even look at Ash, he just shouted to remind him. "Frogadier! Hydro Pump!" "Frogadier! Ice Beam!"
At that critical moment, there was no need for further words. The two trainers acted in perfect harmony. Water conducts electricity, but ice does not. Frogadier fired a powerful stream of water into the air, forming an arc over them like a fountain. As the water cascaded down, Frogadier followed up with Ice Beam, freezing it into a solid dome of ice. A 360-degree protective barrier surrounded them, shielding them from Raichu's deadly Wild Charge.
Lt. Surge let out a deep laugh. "An ice wall? Cute trick, kid, but you're underestimating me!"
Raichu's electricity surged even stronger, shattering the ice barrier almost instantly. But as the last fragments of ice fell to the deck, Lt. Surge's confident smirk disappeared. His eyes widened as he saw—no one was inside.
"What?! They're gone?! Raichu, fall back!"
But it was too late.
"Now!"
Satoshi and Ash emerged from behind the remains of the ice barrier, having slipped away at the last second. The misdirection had worked. Their Pokémon were in position, ready to launch a full-power coordinated assault.
"Charizard, Frogadier, Grovyle, Riolu!"
"Pikachu, Ivysaur, Politoed!"
"Attack Raichu!"
Seven Pokémon unleashed their strongest moves simultaneously. Fire Blast, Aura Sphere, Giga Drain, Hydro Pump, Iron Tail, Razor Leaf, and Ice Beam all converged on Raichu from multiple angles. The electric-type let out a cry of pain, overwhelmed by the sheer force of the combined assault.
Lt. Surge's expression darkened. "Damn it! Electabuzz, hit them now!"
The yellow brute leaped high into the air, raising its arms. The antennae on its head crackled like lightning rods, drawing power from the storm above. A massive thunderbolt, meters wide, came crashing down. It was aimed directly at Frogadier and Charizard, both incredibly vulnerable to electricity. If this attack landed, it would take them out instantly.
Satoshi gritted his teeth. "This is bad. We need more time to finish off Raichu... I have no choice but to—"
Before he could react, Ash made his decision.
"Politoed! Block it!"
The green frog Pokémon fearlessly jumped into the air, raising its fists as if ready to punch the thunder itself.
Satoshi's eyes widened. "Ash, what are you—"
"Just focus on taking down Raichu!"
Ash's voice was resolute, but there was a tremble in his eyes. He knew exactly what he was asking Politoed to do.
Satoshi clenched his fists. "...Charizard! Flare Blitz! Give it everything you've got!"
Charizard roared and ignited itself in flames, charging directly at Raichu with explosive force.
Meanwhile, Politoed braced itself. The Thunder attack, thick as a tree trunk, came crashing down, striking Politoed head-on.
A deafening boom echoed across the ship. The sheer force of the impact blasted a massive hole into the deck. Wood and metal shards flew everywhere. The S.S. Anne trembled, shaking violently from the force of the attack. Several onlookers lost their balance, falling to the floor. Even the aftermath of the lightning reached Ash, knocking him backward with a painful grunt.
But he didn't care about himself.
His wide, terrified eyes were locked onto his partner.
"Politoed!!!"
The water-type let out a weak croak, its body scorched and trembling. It had survived—but barely. It was already plummeting toward the ocean, its body motionless, seconds away from being lost beneath the waves.
Ash's hands fumbled for Politoed's Poké Ball. If he recalled it in time, he could save it. But his hands were shaking. He wasn't fast enough.
Then—
A brilliant blue light engulfed Politoed's body midair.
Satoshi's eyes widened. "That's—!"
A small, blue stone shimmered in the moonlight, just as it made contact with Politoed.
The instant it touched the weakened Pokémon, the light intensified. The very air vibrated with energy.
