Sullivan Zhang stepped out cautiously. "Hey, sister-in-law."
Fyren glared. "What are you blindly calling her that for?"
"Call me that!" Cora said. "Tell me, am I your sister-in-law?"
"Of course!" Sullivan Zhang said. "I don't acknowledge any other woman in this world - you're my only sister-in-law!"
"Well said! If another woman tries to ruin my relationship with your brother, what will you do?"
"I'll beat her to death! She'd be shameless!"
Cora looked at Fyren smugly. "Well?"
Fyren could only sigh.
[Sullivan Zhang, this unprincipled bastard, meeting a stubborn woman like Cora... you two deserve each other.]
Sullivan Zhang smiled. "Sister-in-law, I'm in a tight spot lately."
"How much do you need?"
"Twenty million."
Fyren was furious. "What do you need twenty million for?"
Cora said angrily, "So you can spend tens of millions on a mansion, but my little brother-in-law can't even ask for twenty million in pocket money? Come to my company tomorrow - I'll get you the money."
"Thank you, sister-in-law!"
Fyren pointed at Sullivan Zhang, gritting his teeth. "I'll kill you if you dare go!"
"Brother, stop making sister-in-law angry."
"I'll beat you to death right now!"
Cora walked up to Fyren, her hair disheveled as she stared fiercely at him, making Fyren's heart skip a beat.
"Cora, you..."
"Fyren, let me make this clear - you can't marry anyone else in this lifetime. You can only marry me! Even if I die, I'll die as a member of the Zhang family!"
At that moment, Zaring walked in. "Fyren, Cora, Sullivan..."
"Spit it out," Fyren said impatiently.
"Officer Zoey is here."
Fyren felt like he was about to die.
He ripped off his tie and threw it on the coffee table before collapsing onto the couch. "Jesus Christ! Just kill me now! Everything's going to hell!"
Fyren said, "All of you, go rest upstairs."
"On what grounds?!" Cora protested.
"That case is still hanging over my head because I was trying to save your stubborn ass! I'm the one under investigation now! Or have you forgotten? You were so eager to have dinner with Hogan that you got drugged and nearly got taken advantage of! If I hadn't shown up in time, you'd be Hogan's woman now!"
Cora immediately became contrite, tugging at Fyren's sleeve. "I know I was wrong, don't be mad! I won't dare do it again. From now on I'll only eat with you, okay?"
Fyren was at a loss for words with this woman.
"Go hide! Aren't you ashamed to face Zoey?!"
"I know!" Cora pulled Sullivan Zhang back into hiding.
Tracy felt like she was seeing a ghost.
What kind of drama is this!
Xena, the talented eldest daughter of the Xu family, actively hit on Fyren, wearing a bunny girl outfit to seduce him - that's shocking enough!
Now Cora from the Chen family also came here trying to hook up with Fyren!
Is Fyren really worth all this?
But then again, the pharmaceutical factory incident had nothing to do with Fyren - he was the one who exposed it!
And the shantytown project - could this guy really have no intention of making money?
Looking at it this way, Fyren isn't the crooked businessman people say he is, but rather a capitalist with a conscience!
Investing tens of billions in infrastructure while guaranteeing his partners' capital returns - he's practically a saint!
What's wrong with our judgment?
Fyren felt exhausted. "Let Officer Zoey come in."
Zoey stood in the foyer. "I'm already in."
"Oh, Officer Zoey is here. Please have a seat."
Zoey, accompanied by a police trainee, sat on the couch.
She remained silent, staring sternly at Fyren.
Fyren said wearily, "Zaring, serve our guests."
"No need," Zoey said. "I overheard your conversation with Cora just now. So it seems you were truly wronged?"
Fyren looked at Zoey, too tired to argue.
"Officer Zoey, I know you dislike me. That's fine - I don't care. Whether I was wronged or not doesn't matter. If you have evidence, convict me. If not, lift the restraining order. I genuinely don't want to stay in this city a minute longer."
Zoey smiled. "We've completed our investigation. Your suspicion has been cleared, and we're here to inform you the restraining order is revoked."
She produced a document. "Sign here and you're free."
Fyren took the pen and signed without looking.
"Signing without reading?"
Fyren returned the pen to the young officer, looking at Zoey. "Someone like you would never screw people over. I can trust that."
Zoey stood up, glancing around. "Nice house."
"Anything else, Officer Zoey?"
Zoey smiled slightly. "Alright, I know you're eager for me to leave. See you around, Fyren. I'll be keeping an eye on you."
"Thanks."
At that moment, Zaring stumbled in again. "Fyren, trouble! Otto... Otto is here!"
Fyren was shocked. "Otto? Impossible! Iron King beat him to a pulp - how can he be standing?!"
"I don't know, but it's really him!"
Fyren clenched his fist. "Holy shit!"
[Is the plot advancing this fast? How did Otto recover so quickly after being beaten unconscious by Iron King?!]
[The protagonist is the protagonist - completely unreasonable!
Is today the day I die? I'm so fucking screwed!]
Zoey felt something was off.
Otto - the man Fyren often mentioned, always praising how great he was, firmly believing she would become part of Otto's harem.
Today was the perfect opportunity to see who this person really was. She wanted to witness how she could possibly become his harem member.
Zoey smiled slightly. "It seems Fyren has offended quite a few people... Otto - which family's young master is he again?"
Fyren said nervously, "I won't keep you any longer. You should head back."
Zoey pulled out a recorder and tucked it behind the couch cushion. "I'll record this. If he tries to hurt you, I can intervene."
Fyren smiled bitterly. "Fine, then go hide in the inner room."
When Zoey entered, the room was already crowded.
While no one recognized Tracy, Zoey did. "Tracy?"
"Zoey."
"What are you doing here?"
"I..."
Zoey understood - her reporter friend was meddling again.
Looking around, she saw Sullivan Zhang, Xena, and Cora - all familiar figures.
Several people crowded in one room, the atmosphere unbearably awkward.
Each had their own agenda, each deeply entangled with Fyren.
Otto walked into the hall, laughing loudly. "Fyren, what an impressive house!"
Fyren examined him. "Are you... alright?"
Otto laughed heartily, went to the wine cabinet, selected a bottle of imported wine, grabbed two glasses, and returned. "Have a drink with me."
"Are you going to make your move? No need for pretenses. If you want to act, just do it."
"No rush." Otto radiated confidence. Seeing Fyren's nervous expression, he smiled slightly and uncorked the bottle to pour the wine:
"Sometimes I think fate is truly strange. You're wealthy, tall, and handsome - but with one fatal flaw. Do you know what it is?"
Fyren sighed. "I don't know... please enlighten me, Your Excellency."
Otto handed Fyren a glass. "You have no brain."
Fyren's mouth twitched, but he remained silent.
Otto sat on the couch, crossed his legs, and swirled his glass. "I know you won't accept that assessment. Let me explain - if you were truly intelligent, you'd realize I, Otto, am someone you can't afford to challenge."
"I understand your attraction to beauties like Eliza, Xena, and Cora. But you should know your place. Compete with me, Otto? Do you have the capability? I only need to lift a finger to make you vanish from this world - vanish, understand?"
Fyren sighed, picked up his glass, swirled it, and took a sip to calm his nerves.
"Believe it or not, I never intended to get engaged to Eliza in the first place. Xena was a mistake - I never had feelings for her. Cora is even worse - we broke up over three years ago..."
Otto interrupted with a wagging finger, "None of that matters. What matters now is... you pissed me off, and between us, we need closure."
Fyren sighed, "How do you want to end it? Beat me to death?"
"Hahaha!" Otto laughed loudly. "Not yet. But you stole five billion dollars of my men's investment money - you must return it to me."
"No problem," Fyren said. "I can transfer the money first thing tomorrow morning."
"Also, the shantytown project - I want you to withdraw and default."
"I've already signed a contract with the government."
"Then I don't care. The Zhang family can't collapse under your watch. It won't benefit me if the Zhang family loses everything."
"So it seems you won't let go of either the Zhang family or me?"
Otto stood up. "You are smart - smarter than I thought. Though just a mere mortal in my eyes, nothing but a puddle of slime, a lowly creature who couldn't even keep shit warm. But you do have some brains."
Fyren sipped his wine. "There's something I can't figure out?"
"Speak."
"How did you recover so quickly after Iron King beat you so severely?"
"Oh, you seem to have forgotten I'm a divine healer and alchemy wizard. I can still prepare Fugu Jianyuan Pills."
Fugu Jianyuan Pill.
Xena, listening from inside, frowned at the name.
Cora asked quietly, "A very powerful elixir?"
Xena nodded grimly. "An elixir recorded in the Legendary Tome that can repair all broken and shattered bones within twenty-four hours. For qi practitioners or those with special physiques, the recovery time is shorter. Judging by Otto's disappearance duration, he likely possesses both."
Tracy looked confused. "That's not scientific!"
Xena gave the laywoman a cold look:
"As I said, it's from the Legendary Canon. Many modern people consider Fugu Jianyuan Pill to be a 'mythological' name for ancient medicine, part of feudal superstition. Numerous attempts have been made to replicate this class of ancient miracle drugs, all unsuccessful."
Zoey laughed: "You're actually taking a charlatan's words seriously? In criminal investigation, when someone breaks seventy-some bones, surviving is miracle enough - walking around within half a year is impossible."
Xena coldly glanced at Zoey: "Just days ago you insisted Fyren was the one who drugged Cora. If you don't understand something, just listen quietly."
"You—"
Sullivan Zhang interjected awkwardly, "Everyone stop arguing and listen to what they're saying."
...
Fyren nodded. "If you're so capable, why didn't you fight back when Iron King attacked?"
Otto's expression darkened at the mention. "Because I used the Shape Shifting Technique, which immobilizes one's true qi for several hours. That's how that idiot got the upper hand."
"You came all this way just for five billion dollars and to stop the shantytown project?"
"There's one more thing."
"Go on."
"I want your fifty billion - to fund the amusement city project."
Fyren's eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Otto.
