I walked into the restroom and splashed water on my face.
The silence after the servers died was deafening. No hum of machinery, no flicker of screens—just the ragged sound of Kai's breathing and the phantom ache in my chest where Lala's face had burned for years.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself.
I splashed more water on my face, my hand gripping the side of the sink afterwards.
I did the right thing.
Jarvis spent decades lying to Marie. Swore he'd changed, every single time then fucked his way through the court.
I won't be him. I won't marry Kai and do the same like he did to my mom... emotional cheating was cheating all the same.
I refuse to half-love her. When we do this, it's all in. No ghosts between us.
