Kyle, however, remained fixated on the man stepping out of the carriage before him. His presence was both commanding and regal—a figure Kyle had seen countless times in books. There, standing with a quiet yet undeniable authority, was one of the heroes of the Great War: Alaric Vermont.
Alaric stood with an air of effortless composure, his serene demeanor carrying an undertone of undeniable power. As he approached, a warm smile graced his face.
"Hello there, little nephew," he greeted. "I am your great and—some might say—remarkable Uncle Alaric. Your father asked me to retrieve you and escort you safely to the Vermont estate."
He then turned his gaze toward Elana, offering her a grateful smile. "Thank you for taking care of him up until now—we are truly indebted to you," he said, bowing slightly in appreciation.
"Have you said your goodbyes?" he asked Kyle.
Kyle glanced at Elana, his expression weighted with sorrow. There was nothing he could do—he had to leave.
Elana, sensing his anguish, enveloped him in a motherly embrace. No words passed between them—only silent understanding. When at last she withdrew, she placed a gentle hand upon his head, offering him one final smile.
"Kyle, no matter what happens, do your best while you're there," she said. "And know that you can visit me whenever you like. Don't be sad—this is for the best."
Slowly, she stepped away.
At Alaric's silent command, one of the knights retrieved Kyle's modest luggage and placed it within the carriage. The older man opened the door, gesturing for Kyle to enter. As he climbed inside, he took one last look at Elana, his heart heavy with unspoken emotions. Alaric offered her a brief nod before joining him, settling into the seat beside him.
Within moments, the carriage lurched forward, departing from the place Kyle had called home for so many years. Through the window, he watched as the familiar sights faded—the home that had nurtured him, the woman who had loved him like a mother. Though sorrow pressed at his chest, he willed himself to cast it aside.
He would return.
Someday, he would be back.
As the journey to the Vermont manor began Alaric glanced at Kyle and a thought came to his mind this kid is way too small and weak, I guess things will be difficult for him from now on I just hope he knows what he's going to pass through, Alaric Had a thought.
An hour had gone by, and the carriage had entered into the city Kyle looked through the windows and was astonished It was nothing like the little village he had lived in, the city was flooded with people and various shops and vendors trying to offer a trade to someone. The Carriage continued moving forward for a few minutes Until it finally descended down a road that felt like a completely different district until they came across a huge mansion, they had arrived at the Vermont manor.
As the carriage came down to a stop the door was opened and Alaric Stepped down from the carriage Kyle had stepped down too and in front of him was a older man with with hair Kyle had assumed him to at least be in his sixties and beside him was a young lady dressed in a maids outfit. The old man walked up to them and said "good day young master Kyle I am the head butler of the Vermont estate you can call me Barios, I know you've had a long journey but I've been instructed by the lady of the house to escort you in, this here is charlotte she will be your personal maid from now on, she will also inform you on your daily schedule and the various requirements of you daily while attending to your needs. Now come the matriarch is waiting on you." He turned around and looked at Alaric and asked "would you like to join us Sir" Alaric looked at waved his hands and said nonchalantly I'd like to but I've got something else to do. As the huge doors of the Vermont manor were opened Kyle , he was created with a scene of Elegance the halls were huge derogated with flowers and various portraits hanging from walls they walked until they got to a door and Barios, Barios knocked and then announced his arrival, " your grace Kyle Vermont has arrived" and a female voice echoed from inside "Come In" Kyle walked into the room that had a throne at the center of it and seated on a lesser throne was the matriarch of the Vermont family Dahlia Vermont she had a huge smile on her face, "welcome home Kyle, she walked towards him with a smile on her face while discretely observation his features, I know you've been through a great deal, but do not be worried from now on your life is going to be a whole lot better, you are a vermont, this is your home and we are your family. I know it's going to take time for you to adapt to your new life but just keep in mind that we will always be here for you. She took a glimpse to her left at the two children standing by the side" what are you doing won't you greet your brother" the twins walked together with a smile on their face Dahlia introduced the two of them " Kyle these are your siblings Cedric and Ciara", "Cedric smiled and said hello Kyle I hope we can get along from now on, please feel free to speak to me when ever you like.
The meeting with the members of the Vermont family had gone relatively well between them, after the introductions Amelia had given Charlotte instructions to give Kyle a tour of the mansion, she had taken him around the mansion showing him the places he needed to know the must such as the Vermont library, The training hall, the garden and so on after the tour Kyle and Charlotte began to head back to his room. " How did you like the tour young master, I hope it was to your liking" she said in a polite tone, "It was great thank you I didn't expect the manor to be this big", they had almost gotten to his room when charlotte said, "this is your room young master, you should rest a bit you must be tired from your travels I will be back in a while to inform you of your schedule. " Alright thank you charlotte".
As Kyle opened the door to his room he saw a familiar face he wasn't expecting to see sitting on his bed.
