Lucian paused at the doorway, glancing back with a sharp look in his eyes. He pulled the hood of his cloak back up, partially obscuring his face.
"Really? It's a shame our thoughts differ, Old Man," he said calmly yet pointedly. "This is our first meeting, and it might well be our last."
He took a slow breath. "I have no intention of meeting you again," he stated flatly.
Lucian finally stepped out of the room without looking back, letting the silence and the slow closing of the door serve as a conclusion to their conversation.
The old man lowered his head, his shoulders trembling slightly as if he were bearing an unseen weight.
"I've completed my task, Mr. Navien…" he murmured softly, his voice almost swallowed by the room's silence. "So please… don't disturb this old man's life anymore…" he continued, his voice weary and trembling, the words hanging unfinished.
