The music slowed, then faded into silence, but neither of them moved.
Cael's hand lingered at her waist, fingers resting so lightly it was like he was afraid to push. Elisa stayed still, chest rising and falling against his as she tried to remember how to breathe.
"You keep looking at me like that," she murmured, "and I might start believing I'm the center of the universe."
Elisa froze looking into his eyes.
"Come on," he said softly, brushing a strand of hair from her cheek. "Let's get you back to pack house."
He kept her hand in his the whole walk out. The night air had cooled, but she barely noticed it through the haze of emotions clogging her chest.
"Tonight was…" she started as they got into the car, then trailed off.
He glanced at her. "Too much?"
"No. I just...I didn't think I'd ever have something like this. It was wonderful, thank you." She said as she leaned and kissed his jaw.
