Chapter 10 - Raider Corps Guilds Challenge! We'll see who the Fool Is.

Reon, Raya, and the two members from the Raider Corps boarded the carriage and set off to Cradle Port.

"Reon, you should be more careful with how you address Village Lord Dai and people who hold higher status than you." Raya scolded.

Reon thought to himself that only the king of a nation possessed a higher status than himself. He was the heir to the throne of Valt, but he could not reveal his status to anyone during his journey.

"I understand Raya, but I never actually went to the academy so I don't know too much about Akram's politics work. Let me know what you think I should know." Reon responded.

"I'll help you since there is a limit to how much you can't know, especially now that you're an elite member of the Flyers." said Raya.

"Hmph" one of the Raider Warriors scoffed.

"Something funny?" said Raya.

The young man of the Raider Corps who hadn't spoken the entire time finally did.

"You act like becoming an elite member of the Flyers is some type of honor, but you guys are nothing but a mid-tier guild." the man said.

"What do you mean a mid-tier guild?" asked Reon.

"You truly don't know anything. There are different tiers between the guilds, some are low-tier, and some are high-tier. The Flyers are a mid-tier guild while the Raider Corps is a high-tier guild." the man said.

"It's true I don't know much, but what does it matter what tier a guild is, don't we all take missions for work?" Reon said.

"Of course we do, but it's a greater honor to be a member of a high-tier guild, and we get much more mission's request because everyone knows that we're better than the mid-tiers." the proud man said.

"I'm Reon Devalt, what is your name, both of you Raider Corps clan members?" Reon asked.

"Ha, you must be interested in joining the Raider Corps now huh? Well it's not gonna happen kid. My name is Gole, and she is Spryta." said Gole.

"I don't want to join your guild Gole, I just wanted to ask you and Spryta something. If a member of a mid-tier guild could defeat you guys in a duel would they have more honor than you, or would you lose honor?" Reon asked.

"Are you challenging us to a duel?" Spryta asked with an evil smirk.

"No Spryta, I'm just saying that I don't think honor has anything to do with the group you are a part of. You earn and lose honor by your own deeds, nothing more, nothing less." stated Reon.

"Well, of course you would say that, you're a part of a mid-tier guild." Gole laughed.

"Tell you what, since I'm a 2-Star warrior, you two can pick any 2-Star warrior from the Raider Corps, and I'll duel them. If I lose, that proves that a guild's status means something, but if I win, you have to quit the Raider Corps and join the Flyers guild." Reon challenged.

Raya, who'd been watching the conversation, wondered what Reon was up to.

"Pfft, why would we agree to that? We don't get anything out of that, and who would want to leave the Raider Corps and join the Flyers." said Gole.

"Hold on Gole." Spyta said, putting her hand in front of Gole. "He's right, we don't get anything out of that, but how about we make your proposal more interesting."

"What do you have in mind?" Reon asked.

"How about this Reon? Gole and I will both select one fighter to represent us and have them duel you, if you win against both of them, then we'll quit our guild and join yours, but if our fighters win then you will become our slave for life." Spryta said grinning devilishly.

"Oh, that's good Spryta," said Gole. "Are you still such a confident brat?"

Raya tapped Reon on the shoulder and shook his head, quietly advising him not to accept such terms.

"One question about those terms. Would I fight both of them at the same time or one after the other?" asked Reon.

Spryta and Gole both looked at each other, and laughed maniacally.

"Either way you won't win, so you can decide if that's alright with Gole." said Spryta with teary eyes.

"Yeah, fight them at the same time or one after the other kid, but don't forget to enjoy your last minutes of freedom while you do that, ha ha ha." laughed Gole.

"Deal, I'll fight both 2-Star level warriors from the Raider Corps Guild that you pick at the same time, if I lose I'll be your slave, but if I win you two will quit the Raider Corps Guild and Join the Flyers as standard members." Reon spoke.

This statement surprised Raya, Gole, and Spryta.

"What are you thinking Reon, don't do that!" Raya yelled, but when he looked into Reon's face smiling, he saw calm confidence.

This made Raya smile.

"This kid keeps getting more interesting," he thought.

"Ha, you can talk big but let's see you sign after we put it in a contract." Spryta said, pulling paper out of her bag.

She wrote the terms and the day the terms were set, out on four pieces of paper signing them, then giving them to Gole to sign which he gladly did.

Raya signed on the contracts as a spectator, and then gave the papers to Reon.

Reon didn't hesitate to sign the papers, and put one copy into his shirt to keep, and one for Raya for proof of the contract.

"I'm surprised you're actually this foolish," said Spryta.

"We'll see who the fool is," said Reon confidently.

Raya liked that Reon was talking back to Spyta, as she seemed too proud and annoying to Raya.

Reon continued what he was doing before he was interrupted by Gole, learning from Raya how the powers in Akram were broken down.

Raya explained that the smallest bodies in Akram were towns, overseen by town lords, followed by villages such as Crux overseen by village lords.

The combined territory of multiple dozens of towns and villages comprised a district of Akram, which were overruled by the lords of the district, called dukes, at the District Capital.

The 11 districts of the Kingdom of Akram, were all overruled by the leader of the Kingdom, the King of Akram, at the Royal capital.

Within Akram were also multiple independent factions such as warrior guilds, merchants, and clans, who still had to respect the authority and power of the king.

Finally there was the supreme combat authority of Akram, The Grand Marshalate, whose authority was no less than the King himself.

They oversaw all combat competitions, regulated the star ranking system, licensed guilds and warrior academies and sanctums, judged high-profile duels, crimes and disputes, and even recruited powerful elite warriors into their ranks.

It was their ultimate purpose to maintain Akram's dominance as the strongest warrior nation.

This was all quite interesting to Reon to see how the country of warriors aligned.

The trip was taking a few hours by carriage.

In the meantime Reon sat quietly meditating. In Reon's mind's eye, he saw two enemies in front of him, two Sujin's, as if they were clones of the real one that he fought against.

He practiced fighting them both at the same time, losing and dying over and over again, until he finally won. Then he won again, over and over, in a more dominant fashion each time.

While he was meditating Raya, Gole, and Spryta noticed his body slightly shifting around, they didn't think too much of it however.
