EMMA
I stood there motionless as Ian turned his back on me. His broad shoulders were tense, his gait steady, but I could see it.
The fracture and crack in his calm as he walked out of the Moonstone Pack. Out of my life.
And it shattered something inside me.
I spent my whole night wondering and I would sacrifice this… us… for something greater.
For safety, to get him protected and now that the moment had finally come, I couldn't breathe.
My chest ached and my wolf whimpered. My soul tied so violently to his strained like a snapped thread.
[He left and didn't look back.] Been purred sadly.
But he had to leave. It was the only way I could protect him from the monster standing beside me.
I swallowed hard, blinking against the sting behind my eyes. I couldn't afford to cry, because Xander was watching. And in this place, tears meant weakness. Weakness meant leverage.
I had given him too much of that already, as long as Ian had left in one piece.
