Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Failed (Part 2)

"I-i failed?" Wyatt repeated the words again.

Truthfully, Wyatt knew he would fail the test, after all it would be impossible for him to even touch a seasoned fighter Tai. But he thought that injuring her leg would add some points.

Wyatt had no where else to go, failing this meant that he would be out on the streets, there was no way Wyatt would survive on his own in the outside world.

'What do I do now? Where do I go.' he panicked inwardly.

"Don't worry, yer were never meant to pass the test." Craven informed Wyatt.

Wyatt was confused, what he going on about. He was never meant to pass? Then why did he take part in the stupid thing in the first place.

"The test was never meant for yer to pass," Craven who had been leaning his back on the chair the whole time, leaned forward with a crooked smile. "It was for ya to show me something good."

Wyatt facial expression was one of pure shock.

'He made me endure those kicks to entertain himself?!' Wyatt has never wanted to hit anybody this much in his entire life.

"If yer weren't pushed to the limit, how would I know what yer capable of. And I'll tell ya now, yer power is crackin' good." Craven added.

Wyatt understood a bit. Craven wanted to know how powerful Wyatt's talent is, so pushing him to the extreme and forcing his survival instincts to come into play would show just that.

"And now that we know how strong ya are, we can begin yer training." Craven stood up from his and made his Wyatt. "Are yer up for it, lad."

Craven was so close that he

towered over Wyatt's small figure.

"ye...yes sir." Wyatt gulped.

Wyatt was by no means short, he was considered average for his age. Yet he barely reached under Craven's chest, so he had tilt his head quite high to look at Craven's face and it was quite intimidating.

Craven let out a hearty laugh as he repeated patted Wyatt's shoulder, quite heavily at that. "Let's see if ya keep the same spunk after the first day."

Wyatt let out nervous laugh while he rubbed his shoulder, just how strong was this hairy gorilla. Whatever the case was, Wyatt could rest easy now,, seeing as he wasn't was going to be tossed into the street.

"Lung's just outside the door, he'll show ya to to yer room." Craven told him as he waved him off like his some fly.

Wyatt didn't even have time to question how Craven knew Lung was at door since he didn't hear any knocking, before Craven eagerly chased him out.

Upon opening the door, Wyatt found Lung standing there with his ear pointed the door, clearly trying to eavesdrop on their conversation.

Lung, after discovering he was caught red-handed, straightened himself with a red face and looked away like he hadn't just been caught.

They both stood like that for a few seconds before Wyatt spoke up. "Craven said you'd-"

Lung didn't even bother to let Wyatt finish his sentence before he walked out, leaving Wyatt to stare at him confused. After walking a few feet he turned to Wyatt, "follow me."

The walk wasn't a long one, the base wasn't that big after all, but during the walk to Wyatt's new room he had tried to apologize to Lung a few times, but the latter didn't even give the least bit attention.

' I guess almost killing his sister put him in a bad mood, I'll just apologize wen he's ready to talk.' Wyatt mused.

"Here it is." Lung informed him when they reached their destination and immediately walked off, not waiting to even tell him thank you.

The room was nothing fancy, just big enough to accommodate one or two people. It had a small bed that could hold just one person, a small table and chair at the corner,

and a window that faced the front yard of the base.

One could say the room was rather basic, but it was better than what he had at the orphanage so of course he was excited.

'My own room.' Wyatt couldn't stop smiling. Back at the orphanage Wyatt shared a small room with 4 other kids when he wasn't spending time in purgatory that is, so when it came to space Wyatt has never much it.

Wyatt walked around the room for a while, before he went to the bed and touched it.

"so soft." he muttered. The bed in question was in no way soft, in fact it was rather hard. But Wyatt was used to either sleeping on the cold floor or the beds at the orphanage that were stronger than rocks.

He then proceeded to lay down on the bed, to test it out. The whole base was quiet with everyone either out or doing their own thing, the bed was the softest thing Wyatt had ever seen and mixed in with his fatigue and tiredness, Wyatt slept off the moment his head touched the pillow.

At the door of his new room there was someone there that had had been watching Wyatt since he entered, he didn't even notice their presence. That was person was Annie.

She just stood there the whole time without any expression on her face, and after Wyatt slept she just shut the door and left.

The door of Craven's office was flung open with so much force that it hit the wall behind it and rebounded.

"You let him join?!" Lung was fuming. "After what he did."

Craven, who was busy drinking in his office, just looked at lung like he ran mad. Lung didn't care though, as he walked into the office and slammed his hands on the table.

"I thought we agreed that he was too unpredictable and dangerous to be a member, and he almost..." Lung didn't even want to think of what would have happened if he hadn't stopped Wyatt.

"First of all, if ya ever disrespect my door again you'll be sleeping with the fishes. And secondly, Who's 'we'?" Craven raised a brow.

"Did 'We' start the dark bulls? Do 'we' decide who and who gets into this faction ?"

Craven dropped his drink and stood up so could down on Lung with his irritated gaze.

"Better to keep yer tongue in check there, lad."

Lung bit lip, he felt like the pressure from Craven was suffocating him, he even had trouble breathing, but he had no intention of backing down.

Suddenly he felt a hand on

his shoulder turn him around. A loud slap resounded in Craven's office.

Lung just stood there with a red cheek, facing the direction of which he was slapped, while Tai bowed and apologized to Craven on her brother's behalf.

Craven who had gone back to his usually cheerful self, so he just laughed it off. While Tai just dragged out of his office to do only God knows what.
