Life was actually shit rn.

Valen stood there, with a look of horror on his face staring at what looked like a biohazard crime scene. It glistened ominously under the light, wobbling slightly as if about to fall over.

Pointing at the tower, he said, dead serious:

"What is this?"

A small, impish guy beside him grinned proudly.

"It's a cake."

Valen looked back at the thing. Then at Sunny.

This.....is a cake??

"...Disgusting. Ts (This) can't possibly get worse."

"What?!" the little gremlin snapped, offended. "I made this with love you know??"

Valen looked at him with a smirk.

"...That sounded pretty gay."

Sunny stared blankly at him.

"..."

"Just shut up and eat it."

Valen sighed and dipped a finger into the slimy mush, lifting a scoop of the pastel goop to his mouth.

He took a bite.

Yeah, it tasted exactly how it looked. Textureless and slimy.

Ew

"You take a bite too."

Sunny too ate a spoonful of this "cake".

"Tasty, right?" Valen asked.

Sunny gave him a thumbs-up. Valen wasn't sure if it was sarcasm or genuine.

Valen leaned back against a wall, his eyes scanning the outskirts. He'd been here for months now. After the escape, after the escape he ended up here. In this trash heap of civilization.

He had considered going to the Song clan. It made sense. He was technically under their protection. But nah it was too risky. Valor clan might have slipped some spies in, and He didn't trust them either.

So instead? He hid here.

He had met Sunny not long after. The little rat had proven surprisingly helpful—scouting, gathering, even tracking down kids who wouldn't be missed. Valen had turned nearly a hundred of them into fragments so far. Nine hundred more, and something would awaken.

Would anyone notice a thousand kids disappearing? Maybe. Maybe not. This was the outskirts, after all. No one cared.

He glanced up at the grey sky, then muttered under his breath:

"Seventeen. Happy birthday to me."

Winter Solstice was close, too. He had to prepare. He could hide forever, but what would be the point? With his potential—divine-ranked aspect, son of Valor himself—he could become the strongest. Even stronger than his father.

As a former prince of the Valor clan his ambition was destined to be high.

He would go to the Solstice. Risk detection. Rejoin the world under Song's protection. Bide his time and grow powerful enough to stand alone.

As his thoughts drifted, he looked at Sunny. They'd spent months together. It was... too soon to call him a friend. Plus, Valen would be leaving soon. Maybe he should cut all ties. Erase the evidence.

And yet…

He looked down at a faint shimmer in his vision—an ethereal panel of runes.

[ Current Servant: Sunny ]

This passive ability had helped him suppress his flaw—at least with Sunny the crown didn't act up.

Valen stared at the short guy.

"What? why are you staring at me like that?" Sunny asked. ".....You know that's kinda gay."

Valen laughed. He was kind of funny.

Maybe he wouldn't kill him after all.

They ate the cake for a while, Then, Valen stood up, stretched, and cracked his knuckles.

"Anyways, Sunny… I might have to go."

Sunny blinked.

"Hmm? To piss or what?"

Valen rubbed the back of his neck. "You know... I'm actually a Sleeper. Winter solstice is coming. Gotta handle some things."

Sunny blinked again. He didn't even look shocked.

Valen squinted. "You're not surprised?"

Sunny shrugged. "Yeah, I had my suspicions. I mean, who else could shove their hand through a someone's chest like that?"

Valen chuckled, with a laugh that didn't seem to reach his eyes.

"Knew you were sharp."

Sunny looked at him sideways.

"So I guess this is goodbye (bro)?"

Valen looked down at him.

"Nah. We've got a week or so left." He smiled faintly. "Dw tho I will come back, can't leave you rotting here"

By then he would decide whether to kill him or not.

Sunny snorted.

"That's good to hear."

***

Sunny woke up feeling groggy.

He could hear Valen outside… doing something. (Gooning )

He wasn't surprised about Valen being a Sleeper. The dude screamed not normal from day one. From the crushing aura he had when they first met to the superhuman strength, Sunny figured he wasn't just some bum rando off the streets.

So he stuck with him. Survival instincts or fate—either way, it made life easier.

And weirdly, Valen was fun to hang with. Always laughing at his dumb jokes, even the ones he clearly didn't understand.

When they first met, Sunny found him collapsed in an alley, barely conscious. And even like that, Valen's presence was suffocating—like a god was breathing down your neck. Then... it disappeared. And he helped him. For some reason.

He still didn't understand why. His body had moved on his own.

Maybe they really were meant to be friends?(Nah)

He yawned, as Sunny stretched ..he felt sleepy.

Weird... He had just woken up.
