Land - Nature area.
"Here we are mister Larvan, a Land that still has an Item intact." -The guide said with her arms spread.
She spins slowly to show Larvan the place and let him enjoy the scenery for a bit before she explains anything.
She puts down her hands and fixes her outfit, preparing to explain.
"To continue where we left off, items are what Keyholders such as yourself search and gather for, it holds power unimaginable.
Each one unique, it may control the elements, or bend the rules of nature to your will, or, as I said before, resurrect someone.
You know, you should start finding the item in this Land before someone else comes here and finds it.
I will explain more once you do find it." -The guide said with a smile.
Larvan quickly moved at the sudden suggestion, he realised this as he tried to find the item that his body felt light, like something that had been weighing him down before was gone, he could move the way he wanted his body to.
He wondered how or why this is, Larvan then focuses on his objective, he climbed cliffs, trees, swam the rivers and lakes, then ran and swung on the vines, and even then, he hardly felt exhausted.
A shadow of a giant beast showed in the bushes was following Larvan in secret, without it being noticed.
It waited until the right moment to pounce, it hid so well that it blended in with the environment, the guide noticed this and followed it with her eyes.
"A piece of advice to you, mister Larvan, some Lands have traps, and some have creatures in them that we call Everbeast, some are highly smart, while some are driven by instinct, so I highly encourage you to always stay on guard." -The guide said.
Larvan listened as he searched for the item, he then quickly put up his guard and stayed alert after what she said.
"What am I looking for exactly?" -Larvan asked.
"The item you are looking for can be anything really, it could be a necklace, bracelet, piercings, table, chair, etc.
The only difference is that you can feel it is different, like it is the source of a vibration or heat, feel it with your will, just like how you summoned the key." -The guide said.
Larvan then did so, closed his eyes then, he felt like he was fully in control of himself, of his very being, it was like all of his senses were enhanced and where he wanted them to be, and then he felt it, the lines of strange energies around the Land were connected to it.
His will that was spread returned to him, he opened his eyes and, like a spring, jumped to the place where all the energies converge.
He used the surroundings to his advantage, he used the trees like springboards, and he quickly arrived at his destination.
The beast that was observing his prey followed, but compared to Larvan, his speed was like that of a runner trying to catch up to a motorcycle for racing, but even then, it focus it self removing all distractions to arrived just in time when Larvan was closing his eyes and the ring on his finger.
Back to a few moments ago, Larvan arrived at the location, he found a ring that had a ripple pattern around it.
"Is this it?" -Larvan asked with his brow linked together.
Larvan then wore the ring on his right hand's index finger, but nothing happened, and he was confused, he was sure that this was the item he was looking for.
"Your will, Larvan, bond with it and bind it with your will, make it so that it becomes part of yourself." -The guide said with a smile.
Larvan closed his eyes to focus, then he did what the guide said, he focused and succeeded, information poured onto him on what and how to use the item.
The beast that had just arrived found Larvan, his gourd down and full of openings, and it pounced at Larvan stealthily with swiftness and precision.
Larvans' item passively activated while he was still trying to fully grasp it, the item signaled a pointer pointed behind, he could see the pointer even without looking, and feel it getting bigger as the beast got closer like eyes behind his back although he could not truly see anything but a pointer pointing where it is pointing.
Without looking behind, he jumped and rolled aside out of the beast's way.
"Damn that was close!" -Larvan said in a panicked voice.
Larvan then looked toward the beast and saw a wolf with jet black fur that was as big as the trees.
"Is that what you were talking about?! The Everbeast?!" -Larvan asked while trying to calm himself.
Focusing on the beast with a pointer still pointing at it, Larvan sees the pointer with his own eyes, but when he tries to touch it, his hand just goes through like a hologram.
"Yes. That it is." -The guide said while smiling.
"You should probably focus for now, mister Larvan.
Best to do that after.
So now we are in the second phase of the tutorial, the combat.
Things to remember in combat are that it is a battle of wills, every creature, in the Ever Plains has full access to their will, which means they can fully control it to strengthen themselves or to use items with it." -The guide explained.
As the guide was explaining things, Larvan was doing all he could to dodge the beast's attacks.
It pounced again and again, driven only by its base instincts, and Larvan dodged and listened to the guide at the same time.
His movements became less wasteful and more refined as he synced himself with the item, the beast driven by instinct and desire, its will strengthened the legs and moved faster than before.
As Larvan was getting used to it, the beast was getting faster, and Larvan was barely dodging because of this, then he realized something.
"If the will can be used to strengthen the body, how about I focus all of it on my fist and strike at the right moment? That should work, but trying it on my nondominant hand first to see if his speculations were right." -Larvan thought.
When Larvan had made a plan in his mind, the beast again got faster and pounced, but he dodged just barely, grazing Larvan's cheeks.
"Now!" -Larvan thought as he clenched his left hand into a fist and gritted his teeth.
Larvan punched the beast to the side with the immense will on his left arm to kill it in one strike.
Rawr!!!!!
The beast howled in pain while it flew and was banged into the trees, taking them down with it.
"Damn, did I just do that? Unbelievable, with just my sheer force of will?" -Larvan said while smiling excitedly.
But after all, his sudden burst of strength was not without backlash, his body could not handle the strength he accessed by unlocking the body's natural limiter through his will to unleash such power.
Larvan's muscle was sore and hurting, he could still move it, although only normally, and he could no longer use it for lifting or punching something for the time being, and it might be permanently unusable if he did it again on the same arm.
"If your item's abilities were to give you strength that could lift mountains, then you would not have received a backlash from the body, and it would have only drained some of your will, depending on how much of your will you pour into it." -The guide explained.
The guide is just coming out of the bushes to Larvan's right side, and she straightened herself, smiling with her hand clasping the back of her other hand.
"Just as I thought, my body could not unleash the true power of my will that I had wished to unleash." -Larvan thought.
Larvan looked in the direction of the guide while also trying to redo the thing he did before, only this time, to focus his will on healing his arm.
Unknowingly for Larvan, the beast was still alive, although barely, stealthily getting up and pouncing at him with its last bit of strength and will.
Larvan would have noticed had he not focused all of his will on healing his left arm and left some for his entire body, or had he not let his guard down like the guide said, and was used to being alerted by the item he just got, then maybe this could have been avoided.
Rawr!!!!!
The beast roared when it was already close to Larvan, signaling its victory, and Larvan, noticing too late, raised his left arm to block, preparing for a sacrifice, transferring all his will to his right arm.
Bam!!!
Blood splashes all over..
