Chapter 24 - Chapter 24–End of Attack (4)

"Hmm? Apostle? Exp? What the heck's that system?" Richard asked as he scratched his head in slight confusion.

[An apostle is a rank held by members of the Demon Cult. It is one of the weaker ranks.]

"Hmm. Well, considering how weak that guy was, I guess that makes sense. What about this exp you mentioned?" He asked.

[Exp is... Haa. It will be easier to explain if you just check your status window.]

"Ok." Richard answered and was about to do just that except...

"Um... what's a status window and how do I access it?"

He didn't know what a status window was.

[Haaaa.] The system let out the loudest sigh he had ever heard before it spoke again in slight irritation this time.

[Just say 'status' and it will appear to you.]

"Okay." He said then inhaled and–

"Status."

Immediately he said that, a blue interface appeared before him listing out different parameters he didn't know.

"So... what am I looking at here." He asked the system.

[That is a physical representation of your current strength. Each number is a representation of each of your attributes...]

It paused as Richard listened attentively then it continued.

[For example, STR represents your attribute of physical strength and attack power. Basically how hard you can hit.

How heavy you can carry and so on. AGI represents speed. DEF represents your defense, basically how strong your body is.

MAGIC represents how strong your magic is. Basically how strong your raw mana is. And lastly Mana. Basically how much of it you have.]

"And exp?" Richard asked.

[I was getting to it. Haa. Basically, exp is how the mages of this world grow stronger. You see the number in front of it. That's the exp limit for your strength level at that point in time.

Once the number reaches said limit, you receive a tremendous increase in overall power.

After the limit is reached, it's reset again except this time, the number is higher. It's usually a total of 20 stat points distributed all round per limit reached.

As for mana. Yeah, thats difficult to increase. Unless you have high grade talent or are a Hero Candidate.

Now to gain said exp, the fastest method is killing. That's why the average Demon in the Demon continent is stronger than the average human.

Because while training is a way to obtain exp, it's not as quick as killing. It's why battle hardened veterans are stronger than normal mages who just train.]

"I see." Richard muttered, his mind pondering on something.

"Hey," he said, "The 20 stats distributed, can you decide how it's distributed?"

[Usually no. It's distributed based on the individual mage's combat style. If they favor strength, then most of the stats go to STR.

If they favor speed, AGI. Favor Defense, DEF. And you get it.

But you are the exception. Why? Because you have me.] The system said in a rather proud manner.

Richard just stared blankly as if he was just confused as to why it was proud and bragging.

[...Fuck you.] It muttered in an irritated manner.

[Anyway. Like I was saying. You are the sole exception to this rule because of me. I am capable of interacting with the basic principles on which this world works.

Hence I am able to alter the general rule of how individuals grow stronger in this world.]

"Huh. Guess that checks out. Hey why are my void magic and vector magic locked?" Richard asked.

He could already guess the reason but he decided to ask anyway.

[Simple. You're not strong enough. That's it. Void magic, as you know, takes a toll on the physical body.

As of now, you are still too weak to use it. The same for vector magic. Besides unlocking void magic risks tainting your mana with the void element.

And you are the only being on this planet capable of using void magic. If void mana is detected on you, the world will instantly know that the First Demon King, Deivaros Veirs Crimson has returned.

You would be hunted to the ends of the world. Even the Demons may try to hunt you down.

Afterall, you would be a threat to the current Demon King's throne and the dukes wouldn't want to work under you either.

So, you'll be hunted on both continents. So it's safer that void magic is sealed for now.

At least till you're strong enough to handle it again as well as the consequences it comes with.]

"Haaa." Richard sighed. That knocked the wind right out of his sail.

His favorite magics were currently locked because he was too weak.

If he used vector magic, the toll on his body could kill the current him.

And void magic would attract the attention of the entire world. And guess what, all of them, even the Demon race, would come after him.

So he can't just let his identity be revealed as not just humans, even Demons would come after him.

"Oh well, nothing I can do about it now." Richard shrugged. "One thing at a time I guess."

"Hohhh. What do we have here."

A voice rang out in Richard's ears. He turned with an annoyed look on his face.

Two cloaked individuals, one holding a bloodied axe and the other, a pair of bloodied daggers.

They both had maniacal looks on their faces as they approached him.

One of them then said, "Looks like someone managed to defeat Gregg."

His partner, in an annoyed tone, then said. "Enough about that loser. We all knew he'd die sooner or later anyway, considering how weak he was."

Richard was tired of their bullshit and was about to go till he sensed the aura they both gave off.

A grin then spread across his face as he asked. "Hey system, the stronger the opponent, the larger the exp right?"

[Yes.]

At the system's confirmation, the grin spread even wider, stretching from ear to ear.

"Then, time to dig in then." He said as he rushed the two of them.
