Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 Monster Egg & Northward!

After coming up with a plan we headed off on the quest to the north, though not before Aster pulled me off to the side.

"Master, Joanna finally laid our egg." Aster told me after he went to say goodbye to Joanna, the only monster on our farm who can handle him at the moment.

"Really? Man I haven't been paying attention to the time." After all it's been nearly a week since I learned Joanna was pregnant but as I have been focusing on other things I forgot in the process.

Hearing about that I entered the barn and saw a tired Joanna resting in her pen with a huge egg laying on the ground the size of a new born calf.

It was brown in texture making it clear it was another Minotaur, I then looked at it closely using my monster Appraisal eyes glowed to see what their egg was going to be.

I was completely shocked at what I saw for this egg as it has many things I haven't seen before.

For one thing it was a female Minotaur, something that was unheard of but isn't impossible to happen but it's so rare that the number of cases that it has happened is less than 100 that have ever been recorded in the last thousand years since the job of a monster tamer first came to existence.

A female minotuar is considered in layman's terms to be Holstaruses who don't see that Minotuars and Holstaruses are separate species since they are both Bovine monsters but it's not surprising that it confuses those who don't understand.

The thought is that Minotuars are only male and Holstaruses can only be female is only half true as Holstaruses can only be Female as they can produce milk, though it's not impossible for a futa one to exist as they can still perform their main job of making milk as they still have lactating breasts.

But a male Holstarus couldn't do that as 'Lactation' is a racial Trait all Holstaruses have and a male can't do that, excluding any and all alchemical modifications on monsters to force a trait onto them.

Any monster can be modified and artificially given traits but the amount of money to do that isn't normally worth it unless there was one trait missing to complete a specific commission to gain back the money and make a profit in doing so at the same time.

'But besides that trait that will make her Slothful everything she has would make her the perfect bodyguard and to top it off she was both fertile and human compatible meaning any children she has would be valuable to sell to potential buyers.' I thought thinking about the potential profits she would bring me and the farm.

This may seem harsh how I'm looking at this egg as nothing but a goose that will lay me Golden Eggs but most monsters don't care about their eggs unless their race is in danger of extinction, something that is seen in higher grade monsters as their birthrates and chances of impregnation are much lower compared to lower grade monsters.

It's why Griffin and Dragon Eggs are so heavily guarded and protected by their own kind as a result and are also extremely expensive monster that royalty desire to be made into personal pets and other various reasons due to their rarity.

I also don't have any attachment to any eggs she would lay later down the line, either I'd sell them off or if not worth to sell or make more profit for the farm, but should they stay at the farm I'd come to care about them more as a result, after all can't care about future monsters that don't exist yet.

Anyway after examining the egg and getting all the information I needed I headed to the newly upgraded Hatchery before putting the Minotaur egg up and to begin the hatching process.

'9 days? It must be because of her very high grade, luckily I upgraded the hatchery or else it could be two weeks before her egg would hatch.' I thought to myself before walking away from the hatchery.

I then came back to my group of monsters that would be coming with me on this journey, the orc village chief would stay behind along with the other Orcs to protect the farm and help give the others their daily needs while we are away as it would be a few days before our return.

With One-Eye and Aster carrying the necessary rations and supplies we needed, we began our journey to the Northern Coastal Mountain Range in search of the Harpy Nesting area as Harpies tended to set up their nests around places with 'shiny rocks'.

And Shiny rocks mean Ores and most likely and Ore vein and ores mean profit for mining companies and another step to my freedom.

I am just a simple Monster Tamer brought to this New foreign land against my will but now I'm interested in seeing all that I can see about this world.

I never had to travel around back where I came from as I never saw a reason to do so, I was content in my safe little bubble that I lived in, but now I'm here and I have this sense of adventure that I desire to have.

I want to travel and see this world to the best of my abilities and lay claim to a piece of this world for myself as the New World is well and up for grabs for anyone who can go and take it.

So with that out of the way we began our journey north, making it through the dense jungle canopy all throughout the day before taking breaks to eat and moving along.

But after three days of travel we had finally reached the base of the Coastal Mountains, now our goal was to find out where the Den of the Harpies truly lie.

Fortunately there was a valley between five separate mountains that we had arrived in and decided to use this area as a temporary base location while we searched for the location of the harpies.

Fortunately these mountains created streams of water that lead down into this valley to make a small river that leads deeper inwards and back towards the Jungle making it so we could stay here for quite sometime.

However in pursuit of a single goal we needed to be careful of the other dangers within these mountains.

But no matter what these Harpies must be found as soon as possible.
